A newly formed rivalry takes centre stage in this weekend’s MLS slate, as Matthew O’Regan delivers his Inter Miami vs Orlando prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.
The hosts are the current bookmaker favourite for the title and have picked up an impressive four points from two tough openers. Orlando on the other hand started the season with a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to Montreal.
Our Inter Miami vs Orlando prediction is for a 2-2 draw

Inter Miami vs Orlando , Saturday, March, 2nd, 21:30 (UK)
Inter Miami have had a solid start to the season, accumulating four points from their opening games, defeating Real Salt Lake 2-0 and scraping a last-minute draw away at LA Galaxy.
However, neither game was plain sailing, with Miami having to withstand a barrage of second-half shots from Real Salt Lake, with RSL recording 11 in the second half as the older legs of Miami retreated to their own half.
La Galaxy were unlucky not to score more than one from their 24 shots – 11 again in the second half.
Orlando started the season against Montreal, drawing 0-0 at home to Montreal. In this game, Oscar Pareja’s side recorded 15 shots as they struggled to break down Laurent Courtois’ well-drilled Impact side.
Delving into the shot data it suggests a set-piece trend. Of Salt Lake’s 15 shots, four were from set-pieces. Centre-back Brayan Vera recorded two shots on target, while his defensive partner Justen Glad recorded one.
La Galaxy recorded seven shots, with both centre-backs accumulating two each, with Martin Caceres acres away from scoring.
In Orlando’s opener, they managed seven shots from set pieces, with central defender David Brekalo recording two shots and one on target.
In Norway, the Slovenian was averaging 0.83 shots per 90, a total that will only increase in the MLS- especially against a defensively fragile Inter Miami side.
In the Inter Miami vs La Galaxy betting preview, I tipped Lionel Messi to score, and the Argentine delivered, so here’s hoping lightning strikes twice.
Last season, the 36-year-old scored 11 goals in 13 appearances after signing for the Florida club. He has shown his usual eye for goal this season, topping the league for most shots taken.
In the opener against Real Salt Lake, Messi hit four shots, two of these on target. He then followed it up against LA Galaxy, getting three shots on target from eight shots, scoring a last-minute equaliser.
The League Cup was where Messi performed at his best last season and averaged 1.28 goals p90.
Despite coming to the end of his career, he is still comfortably the best player in the league and looks value again to find the back of the net.
While BTTS and over 2.5 goals has yet to land for Inter Miami this season, they have come very close. The opening day saw them run out 2-0 victors over Real Salt Lake, with Salt Lake recording 16 shots and Inter Miami having to survive a late onslaught.
The match against LA Galaxy ended in a 1-1 draw despite the hosts accumulating 3.37 xG and missing a penalty.
Despite their drab opening game seeing 0 goals, Orlando matches last season saw an average of 2.76, with the Lions scoring 55 goals and conceding 39. Their previous four meetings with Miami have seen BTTS, with three of the last four seeing at least four goals.
Inter Miami vs Orlando Prediction odds via bet365 as at 09:00 February, 2024. Odds may now differ.
Inter Miami have a squad mixed with experience and youthfulness that Gerardo Martino has to pick from. However, it is a team blighted with injuries at the moment.
Youngsters Benjamin Cremaschi, Facundo Faria and Ian Fray are still out with injuries, as are the experienced duo of Franco Negri and Robbie Robinson.
Oscar Pareja has a full squad to choose from – unless there is an injury in the CONCACAF Champions Cup match against Cavalry. He may be tempted to hand designated player Luis Muriel his first MLS minutes, but he is expected to start from the bench.
Inter Miami possible starting lineup:
Callender; Yedlin, Kryvtsov, Aviles, Alba; Gomez, Busquets, Gressel; Messi, Suarez, Taylor
Orlando possible starting lineup:
Gallese; Thorhallsson, Brekalo, Jannsson, Santos; Araujo, Cartagena; Angulo, Lodeiro, Torres; McGuire
