Juventus vs Inter Milan Bet Builder Tips and Predictions: the ‘Derby d’Italia’ is a clash of styles

Juventus vs Inter Milan Bet Builder Tips and Predictions: the ‘Derby d’Italia’ is a clash of styles

Often described as the ‘game of all games’ in the peninsula, Juventus vs Inter Milan (kick off on Sunday, 19:45 UK time), is not only Serie A‘s biggest rivalry but once again a proper grudge encounter for the Scudetto.

The Nerazzurri are two points ahead of Juve, and are considered by many the favorites to win the title. Can Max Allegri’s mean defense put a spanner in Inter Milan’s works?

Italian football expert Daniele Fisichella has once again chosen bet365 to deliver his Bet Builder Tips.

Juventus vs Inter Milan Bet Builder Tips and Predictions: Nerazzurri need patience to avoid last season’s mistakes

Under 3 Goals

Despite playing with the same 3-5-2 system, Juventus and Inter Milan could not be more different in their style of play and approach to games. Since his return to Turin in 2021, Massimiliano Allegri has hardly improved the Bianconeri ability to dominate games, score goals or win by large margins.

Despite having some of the best strikers in the league at their disposal, they finished last season with the sixth best attack in Serie A, and so far six clubs have netted more goals than them. It could be argued that with the (average?) quality of players at Allegri’s disposal, especially in midfield (where they miss Pogba and Fagioli, both facing lengthy suspensions), the Tuscan manager has no other options than to set his team to attend the opposition’s moves and hit on the break.

But for how long can Juventus continue to play so poorly and achieve good results?

Inter Milan, on the other hand, have enjoyed an almost perfect start of the campaign and seem to have ironed out those mistakes, linked to a lack of concentration, that cost them many points at the beginning of the previous season. They come into this game as favorites, sporting the best attack (29 goals scored) and top defense (only six conceded) of the league.

The feeling is that the visitors will get a positive result if they manage to stay patient.

Last season, they lost both league games against Juventus (2-0 and 1-0), despite arguably playing better football, but rushed too many passes and shots in key moments.

Federico Chiesa Over 0.5 Shots On Target

The top of the table clashes in Serie A are rarely high scoring affairs. Last year’s Napoli 5-1 win against Juventus, and Inter Milan hammering their city rivals earlier in September, are the exceptions.

I’d expect this ‘Derby d’Italia’ to be a slow burner, also because it comes right after the international break. South American players would have returned only on Thursday, with both managers having only a couple of days to properly prepare the match.

It would be interesting to see Juventus approach tough matches: earlier this season, they’ve been very cautious against AC Milan, Atalanta and Fiorentina, but in their 3-1 win over Lazio in September, they started the game vigorously.

The hosts’ chances of getting three points rely a lot on the performance of Chiesa, who was Italy’s best player against North Macedonia (where he scored a brace), and Ukraine. In the 0-0 draw in Leverkusen, he completed six dribblings, as many as he did in his previous eight games with the Bianconeri. This goes to show that Allegri might not be getting the best out of the 26-year-old in the current system.

However, Chiesa, who has got four goals and one assist this season, could get some joy against Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian on Inter’s right hand flank, with the help of Filip Kostic. The Serbian winger is also another player to look out for: last season against Inter Milan he got two assists and a goal (in San Siro), and has so far provided three assists in Serie A.

Over 9 Corners

Unless Simone Inzaghi’s men take the lead in the first 20 minutes, the game will be cagey, and will follow the script of recent meetings between the two sides.

A scenario that would please Allegri, who has got his players finely tuned to make the most in tight-margin situations.

On the other hand, the longer the game goes on, the more Inter Milan could make of their deeper and stronger squad.

Inter have changed many players in the summer, but they’re not weaker than last year.

Actually, it’s the opposite. Inzaghi will be missing Benjamin Pavard, Juan Cuadrado (who spent eight years at Juve), and probably Kristjan Asllani, but will still have the luxury of bringing on Italian and Brazilian internationals, Davide Frattesi and Carlos Augusto, two players that would start for any of Serie A’s other 19 clubs.

Inter are very strong in wide areas, and they’ll be able to switch the play quickly from Dimarco to Dunfries, and vice versa. They could create good crossing opportunities or open the space for Nicolò Barella (still looking for his first goal of the season) to shoot.

Inter will probably end up attacking more, but Juve’s backline won’t fret even if they are under siege for some spells of the game.

Rugani, Bremer and Gatti have proven this season that they can suffer and resist in a heroic fashion, especially in Firenze, where Juve won 1-0 and Fiorentina crossed the ball 43 times and took nine corners.
