Is this the season Pep Guardiola and Manchester City finally get their hands on the Champions League trophy? They’re priced remarkably short to do so, and it just doesn’t appeal whatsoever. RB Leipzig definitely have a chance, that’s for sure, even if they’re priced as massive outsiders.

Pep’s side just haven’t looked near their best this season. They were held at the City Ground last weekend despite dominating throughout. City had 23 shots and created five big chances but scored just a single goal, something they’ll need to improve on if they want to go all the way in this competition. Pep’s side have won just half of their 12 away games in the PL this season, which may be a shock given how good they’ve been for the past few years.

Leipzig put together an 18-game unbeaten run before their defeat to Union Berlin earlier in the month; they wiped the floor with Wolfsburg on Saturday afternoon, which should provide plenty of confidence. Christopher Nkunku made his first appearance since November in that victory, a great time to mark his return. Peter Gulasci and Dani Olmo will both be absent due to injuries. The Hungarian shot-stopper has been on the sidelines for the majority of the campaign.

City are odds on to win at the Red Bull Arena, with the 1.75 price not appealing given they’ve won just once in their previous five away trips without recording a clean sheet in that time. The German outfit could be worth siding with, but I think a goal angle looks like the best bet. Leipzig have scored in every home game since their 0-0 draw with Frankfurt back in March 2022, and they’ll believe that they can make a statement and go toe-to-toe with the English club.

Dominik Szoboslai has been a consistent shooter in this competition; the Hungarian registered a shot in all six group stage games with 3, 4, and 2 shots coming in home matches. His record in the Bundesliga is just as impressive. The 22-year-old has featured in nine home games this season and has seen him have a goal attempt in each.

With this game set to be an entertaining watch, the bet builder at odds against looks like a strong bet. The home side needs to record a positive result, but City could quite easily punish them if they switch off defensively.
