Lionel Messi has signed with PSG. Bookmakers had Messi at odds 1.30 when the news first broke that Messi would be leaving Barcelona with PSG odds coming in to 1.05 late last week. There was little doubt Messi would be going anywhere but PSG.
Messi has signed a 2 year deal worth £25 million a season plus bonuses with an option for a third year. Messi will also receive a £25 million signing fee.
PSG are now at odds 4.0 to win the Champions League. The club was available at odds of 7.0 a week go. PSG were already at short odds to win Ligue Un, and are now at odds 1.14.
The Messi saga continues. The 34-year old will have to continue his career elsewhere. Due to ‘financial and structural obstacles’ as the club states, Barcelona legend Lionel Messi has been left without a club, and speculations have arisen as to where he will decide to sign next.
Messi made 778 appearances for Barcelona in his tenure, scoring 672 goals and netting 305 assists. Messi won four Champions League trophies, six Ballon d’Or awards and 10 La Liga titles. Truly incredible numbers for the Argentinian national, and he will go down as one of the best footballers to ever step onto the pitch.

The Parisians have expressed interest in signing the Barcelona legend, and Messi’s odds for PSG as his next club are valued at 1.05 at SKyBet. While nothing is certian, there seems little doubt as to were Messi is heading. There is no question whether Messi could have a positive impact on the club, and they’d be lucky to grab him.

Will he stay after all? Very doubtful now. It seems that both parties had already agreed upon contract terms, but after club officials met with the player’s representatives something went wrong. Naturally, speculations have arisen as to what exactly happened, but nothing is 100% clear at the moment. PaddyPower and Betfair are offering 15.0.

Manchester City are the second favorites in line to sign Messi, and SkyBet has Messi’s odds for Manchester City as his next club at 21.00 from Paddy Power. Manchester City already have a very tight roster, but there is always room for a legend. With their chances of getting Harry Kane in the transfer period slim, they might just turn their undivided attention to Lionel Messi.

Some have already counted him out and believe that he will choose to spend the rest of his career in the US, but the bookies don’t buy it. Messi is still very much capable of playing at the highest level, and it’s difficult to imagine him opting to miss out on European football whilst he is still able.

They could certainly benefit from Messi’s skills and creativity, but the question remains how far they are willing to go to sign him.
