We’ve got Liverpool vs Benfica bet builder tips for this crucial quarter-final second leg. After a commanding victory in the first leg, Liverpool have one foot in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Only a major upset will stop them from advancing but the chances of that happening are rather slim. I’m going with a bet builder that will see the Reds win again and show their dominance on all fronts

Realistically, Liverpool can still win the quadruple even after dropping points in a thrilling 2-2 draw with rivals Manchester City at the weekend.

To move to the top of the Premier League, Liverpool must now rely on the reigning champions to drop points while they maintain a perfect record themselves. It is a demanding ask but Jurgen Klopp and company will again have a go at their rivals, with both sides set to clash in the FA Cup semi-final this weekend.

While we anticipate another exciting encounter, there is the small matter of completing the job against Benfica at Anfield in their Champions League quarter-final return leg.

In the reverse fixture in Portugal, Liverpool displayed their usual dominance, with Luis Diaz’s late strike sealing a 3-1 victory. Very few will be bold enough to back the Portuguese visitors to come from behind and advance.

Liverpool are mentality monsters and it is now two decades since the Reds were knocked out from the Champions League after victory in the first leg.

In all competitions, Liverpool have been relentless in their approach. Bar the draw to Manchester City, they were on a five-game winning streak. In fact, their 1-0 loss to Inter at Anfield is the only defeat for Klopp’s men since Christmas.

Despite a 3-1 win in the first leg, Jurgen Klopp expressed his disappointment at his side, claiming they could have scored more goals to put the tie beyond any doubt. For this encounter, Liverpool just simply need to avoid defeat and they have more than enough in their tank to make that happen.

For Benfica, manager Nelson Verissimo had the luxury of resting six key names in his starting XI during their 3-1 defeat of Primeira Liga relegation contenders Belenenses at the weekend.

In a game where Benfica need at least three goals to win the tie in regulation or extra time, Darwin Nunez sharpened his boots in style with a hatrick at the weekend. Having bagged a goal in the first leg as well, he is the obvious danger man for Benfica.

Coincidentally, he has been linked with a summer move to Anfield and this could be something of another audition for him

History does suggest Benfica have little hope to cling to, having won only one quarter-final away fixture in any UEFA competition over the past 20 years. Ironically, their heaviest quarter-final defeat in Europe back in 2010 came at Anfield and I can see another defeat happening here as well.

Rotation could be the order of the day for Liverpool, given their outing once again with Manchester City at the weekend. Regardless, I expect they will still have enough firepower in reserve to outclass their opponents.

Liverpool vs Benfica Stats and Facts

  • Liverpool have been near-perfect at Anfield, recording eight wins in their last nine games. In five of those victories, they kept clean sheets.
  • Benfica have been poor on the road, having failed to score in three of their five recent Champions League away outings.
  • History is on the side of Liverpool as they have won their last five Champions League games against Portuguese opposition.
  • Liverpool barely ever throw away a knockout lead in the Champions League and it has been 20 years since the Reds failed to progress after coming out on  top in the first leg.
  • In nine attempts, Benfica have never won a Champions League fixture in the quarter-finals.
  • Liverpool have scored at least two goals themselves in  four of their last six games at Anfield.

Liverpool vs Benfica Bet Builder Tips

  • Match Result will be Liverpool
  • Diogo Jota to score anytime
  • Darwin Nunez Over 1.5 Shots on Target
  • Both teams to receive at least a Card – Yes

Bet Builder is available at 11.00 odds.

Diogo Jota has been nothing but a shrewd buy for Liverpool and one can arguably say he is as effective as Mohamed Salah or Sadio Mane at the moment. He brings great form to the table, with four goals in his six games and he is among the top names to score once again. Nunez could yet get another goal but will no doubt trouble the Liverpool defence even if he doesn’t.

WHAT IS A BET BUILDER?

A bet builder is a kind of accumulator bet solely focussed on one match. A standard acca features multiple selections across different selections combined together into one bet. If one selection loses, the whole bet loses. A bet builder is similar but each selection is placed on the same match. Similar to the American prop bet, the bet builder goes into detail on a single match. Common selections include match outcome, total goals, cards, corners, and players to score.
