Two footballing heavyweights meet for the first time since last year’s final at the Stade de France. Here at bettingexpert Expert Insights, we’ve previewed and put together a bet builder for this huge clash.

Despite Liverpool’s underwhelming season so far, you just can’t write them off when it comes to European football. Jurgen Klopp’s side are capable of beating any team in world football under the lights at Anfield.
The Reds have recorded back-to-back victories in the Premier League, something that has been a rarity this campaign. Another win here could provide the much-needed momentum to turn their season around.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are the favourites to make the next round, best priced at 1.83. They’ve not lost against Liverpool in six consecutive meetings, but it’s hard to consider that, given the changes in both squads over that period of time.
Los Blancos have lost just three times in the Spanish top flight, with each defeat coming on their travels. They managed to win just one game on the road in Group F, which came against Celtic. Shakhtar held them to a draw, whilst Leipzig was the first side to inflict defeat on them this season.
Toni Kroos and Aurelien Tchouameni will both miss this clash. Karim Benzema was absent at the weekend but is expected to return on Tuesday night. The rest of the squad all appear to be available after a busy last few weeks for the club.
Liverpool are slowly seeing more first-team players return from injuries. VVD played the full 90 minutes over the weekend for the first time this year. Diogo Jota and Roberto Firmino have featured in the previous two wins. However, Darwin Nunez was taken off with a shoulder injury at St James’ Park and may be unavailable for selection
Cody Gakpo took some time to find his shooting boots since his move from PSV; the 23-year-old has bagged in back-to-back games for Liverpool, which will give him a huge boost of confidence.
I’m expecting the Dutchman to start for Liverpool against Real Madrid, and I’m backing him to have at least two shots on Tuesday night. Gakpo has registered a shot in all five Premier League games so far this season, with multiple attempts arriving in three of those. With goals and two shots coming in his previous two outings, he’ll be keen to extend his tally in front of the home support.
Trent Alexander-Arnold’s tackle numbers are fairly inconsistent in the Premier League. However, he’s been a tackle machine in the Champions League this season. Trent has registered two or more tackles in all five games in Europe this campaign and will have the unwanted task of keeping Vinicius JR quiet, which should equate to a fair few tackles from the Liverpool man.
When playing against the Real Madrid winger, right-sided defenders have more often than not hit high tackle numbers. I can’t see that changing in this clash, especially with Trent’s consistent record so far in the competition.
