Lorient vs Lille Bet Builder Tips: Jonathan David to continue scoring momentum

Lille / Draw Double Chance

Lille have started the season well with a 1-1 draw away to Nice and a 2-0 victory at home to Nantes. They have controlled both games and looked like a well-run outfit. This is the second season in charge for manager Paulo Fonseca, and he will look to make progress on the field to push towards Champions League qualification. Lille have a squad which is realistically much better than Lorient’s.

The hosts are well coached by Regis Le Bris and remain unbeaten, but have no doubt been fortunate. They dug in for a 0-0 draw vs PSG, who were without Mbappe, and then Nice outplayed them at home last week. Only a late equaliser prevented defeat in a match they got outshot 9-21 at home. At the very worst, Lille should draw here.

Both Teams To Score – Yes

This is perhaps the riskiest selection of the piece because Lorient have struggled to create chances so far this season, having the worst xG stats of any team in Ligue 1. However, we must remember they faced PSG away and still managed to score vs Nice last week.

This fixture has a recent history of goals, and it’s one of those matchups that is set up for both to attack. Lorient will be able to hit Lille on the break and might be able to take advantage of Lille missing their suspended defender Alexsandro. We know that the visitors pack decent hitting power with players such as Jonathan David and Remy Cabella. A clean sheet at either end looks relatively unlikely.

Jonathan David To Score Anytime

Lille’s top talent upfront netted 24 times in Ligue 1 last season and is already off the mark thanks to his strike vs Nantes last week. The Canadian international is hot property; several big clubs have been linked with him this summer. Lille are adamant they won’t sell him this window, but if a big bid comes in, they might have to accept.

David knows he’s in the shop window and will be keen to catch the eye. Scoring another goal in a prime-time game would do him no harm. David netted in this fixture last season and is by far the most likely goalscorer for Les Dogues.
