While their fervent support will be ready to cheer the team on this Wednesday and should they manage to come out on top. It will be an invite to the Round of 16 that soon arrives in the post.
Standing in the way of progress are the same team that they mauled in the Netherlands. If Ajax have not learned anything from such a heavy defeat, they will likely succumb to a third Champions League reverse in a row.
Then again, heavy defeats can also serve to be a wake-up call at the same time. With Alfred Schreuder’s men looking to earn a Europa League play-off berth at the very least, they will now look to exact revenge on their Italian counterparts.
