The Nations League rumbles on despite the moans and groans from players and coaches alike. Friday evening is no different, as bettingexpert takes a colourful footballing pilgrimage through Andorra, Moldova and Azerbaijan. Yes, it’s not something we thought we’d be saying, but here we are.

The upcoming 90-minutes in Andorra won’t be the easiest on the eye. I doubt it’ll be a bums-off-seat type of match-up.
You only have to look at the past fifteen competitive games that both were involved in to get a feel of either side’s standing at international level. Taking San Marino out of the picture, Andorra have recorded just four goals in 15. Lichtenstein offers a measly three goals to their name in the same timeframe.
The approach at international level 95% of the time for both sides is to turn up, backs to the wall, and defend as if their lives depended on it. When the onus is handed to an Andorra or Lichtenstein to create and break the lines, it’s difficult.
It’s a big ask to provide the know-how to unlock a low block when the game plan is often to stay compact and stop the opponents from hitting five or six. For example, in Andorra’s recent fixture with Moldova, the visiting Moldovans received a red card in the 44th minute. Up until that point, the home side hadn’t mustered one shot. In the second half, though, the ball was in Andorra’s court.
Come the end of the 90-minutes; it was still 0-0. Andorra had produced just two shots on target in the second 45, whilst Moldova had three, boasted more possession (58%) and hit more shots in total.
Now, Andorra enters Friday night’s fixture as the 1.83 favourites. Lichtenstein (4.50) isn’t fancied by the bookmakers, and rightly so. The away side hasn’t won a competitive game for two years since a 2-0 San Marino win. Before that, 2018’s Gibraltar jaunt was Lichtenstein’s last three points, four years after a 0-1 Moldova win in 2014.
With the lack of artistry and imagination to open up either defence, I can’t look past siding with a lack of goals. But, equally, it’s tough to see an away victory given Lichtenstein’s rotten output on the international stage.

This is not quite the carbon copy of the reasoning above, but it follows a similar train of thought. Firstly, here we have two nations performing at a higher level than those above – Latvia’s opening two wins against Andorra and Liechtenstein may prove as much.
Since head coach Dainis Kazakevičs took control of the Latvian National team in 2020, there has been a steeliness to his side. Even when the big guns come to town, something that may have been a no-contest for Latvia in years gone by, matches are always competitive. In World Cup qualification, Latvia’s 0-0 in Norway and Montenegro, and the 3-3 in Istanbul spring to mind, just three results that show that this group are on the right track.
Being able to contain the Netherlands to 2-0 and 0-1 score-lines is something to note also, with Depay, de Jong, van Dijk and company only able to muster one goal on Latvian soil.
This is a match-up where I’d expect both sides to fancy their chances, as highlighted in the pre-match odds. Bet365 has priced each side up at 2.70, suggesting the bookmakers are no wiser to who will get the upper hand in Moldova.
I think Latvia has the edge, although not glaringly obvious. Again, I envisage a low-scoring game with the emphasis on not conceding over scoring goals – something which is familiar to both nations.

Slovakia at 1.86 for the win in Baku is a hefty price considering the two nations lining up to face each other. However, I understand the odds – the Slovaks fell short against Kazakhstan at home in the last Nations League outing, despite the stats being heavily in their favour.
The 90-minutes ended with Slovakia having 75% possession but just one shot on target from 16. That’s not good enough, but we all have bad days at the office.
There is a step up in class on Friday, which should show. The sticking point will be whether Slovakia can turn the lion’s share of possession into genuine opportunities in front of goal. The two sides met in 2019 when qualifying for the Euros; 2-0 in Slovakia and 1-5 in Azerbaijan made it a clean sweep for Slovakia.
The proposed selection has landed against Azerbaijan in 7/10 of their most-recent competitive matches. At 2.50, it’s an attractive price and provides a nice alternative to another odds-on pick in the Nations League.

A football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create football accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
