Nathan Joyes is back in La Liga with a Osasuna vs Alaves prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview for us to peruse.
Our Osasuna vs Alaves prediction is for Osasuna to win the match 1-0.
In this article:
Spain, La Liga, Monday, March 4th, 20:00 (UK)
This may not be the most glamorous of La Liga’s ties, but Osasuna’s defence has drastically improved in 2024. Having kept three clean sheets in a row, as well as recording two narrow victories over Real Sociedad and Cadiz, they’ve certainly guaranteed La Liga football next term.
Although Real Sociedad dominated the statistics in their 1-0 loss to Osasuna, the visitors on that occasion restricted them to plenty of frustrated efforts from long range. Only three shots found the target out of 21 attempts. In their home win over Cadiz, the relegation threatened side only had one strike on goal.
Ante Budimir has proved to be reliable in front of goal in recent weeks, scoring three in his last three, and Osasuna knows he is capable of taking an opportunity – even if they are few and far between.
They’ve only scored five in their last five whilst conceding six (three of which came against Celta Vigo in a disastrous performance). However, prior to that, they only lost 1-0 away to Barcelona. On their day, they can be a hard team to break down.
Alaves head into this fixture on the back of three consecutive draws. Although a 0-0 draw vs Betis on the road was a well earned point, a late goal vs Mallorca prevented Alaves picking up three points for the first time since January. At home, they only managed one shot on target.
In the reverse fixture, Osasuna came out on top 2-0, where although both sides had 10+ attempts on goal, neither managed more than three on target.
Neither side are playing well or poorly, for that matter, and neither are fighting for a European spot or relegation, which points towards both sides potentially cancelling each other out.
Both teams to score no have landed in four of Osasuna’s last five matches, and so it’s difficult to overlook at present.
Osasuna vs Alaves Prediction odds via bet365 as at 09:00, February 27th, 2024. Odds may now differ.
David Garcia is back in contention for selection after picking up a milestone yellow card which ruled him out of the weekend’s game against Las Palmas. The Alaves fixture should come too soon for Cruz, Arnaiz and Pena for the hosts.
Aleksandar Sedlar, like last weekend, should be the only missing part in a largely healthy first team setup for Deportivo Alaves.
Osasuna possible starting lineup:
Herrera; Mojica, Herrando, Garcia, Pena, Oroz, Munoz, Moncayola, Gomez, Garcia, Budimir
Alaves possible starting lineup:
Sivera; Lopez, Marin, Abqar, Gorosabel, Guevara, Blanco, Rioja, Sola, Guridi, Omorodion
