The league action returns and so does the Premier League Props Acca tips. Every weekend has ended in profit so far but we are still chasing that elusive clean sweep.
Things get going on Friday night when Luton play their first home match of the season against West Ham. Brighton vs Newcastle tops the billing for Saturday, while Arsenal host Manchester United in the weekend’s last match.
Acca odds: 35.90
Odds via bet365 as at 08:00, August 31st 2023. Odds may now differ.
England, Premier League, Friday, September 1st, 20:00 (UK)
Luton have been made to wait to host their first Premier League match at Kenilworth Road. Ground redevelopments dragging on meant that their scheduled match against Burnley needed to be postponed. They’ve lost their opening two matches on the road, but Chelsea and Brighton were difficult tests. They face another tricky fixture on Friday night.
West Ham have picked up seven points so far. They’ve earned impressive wins over Brighton and Chelsea. The Hammers have rebuilt their squad with the funds made available through player sales. However, they have remained happy to cede possession and go long.
Luton’s direct style has meant that their matches have both seen 19 goal kicks, well above the 15.24 average seen per Premier League game. They have suffered two heavy defeats but managed to force 11 Chelsea goal kicks and eight from Brighton. The smaller dimensions of their home pitch should mean we see even more.
West Ham’s away matches saw the 3rd most goal kicks in the Premier League last season. Their opening away match against Bournemouth saw 19 goal kicks. Expect this game to play out similarly to that one, with both teams having opportunities to attack.

Saturday’s early game is an intriguing one. Sheffield United are searching for their first win of the campaign. The Blades will need to up their game, particularly at home, to harbour any hopes of staying in the Premier League. They showed great spirit towards the end of the match against Manchester City, but points are what matter.
Like Sheffield United, Everton are also looking for their first win of the season. Sean Dyche was able to steer them to safety last season, but the issues in the goal-scoring department remain the same. They have been unfortunate in defeats against Fulham and Wolves. Defeat at Bramall Lane could spark panic amongst their ranks.
There have been 49 throws or more in three of Sheffield United’s four competitive matches. The exception was their defeat to Manchester City, where the Blades scarcely touched the ball. Their last 20 home league matches have seen an average of 50.15 throws.
This bet has also landed in three of Everton’s four matches, averaging 50 throws per game. There were 50 throws or more in the Toffees’ last two visits to this ground.
England, Premier League, Saturday, September 2nd, 15:00 (UK)
Chelsea comfortably beat Luton last week to secure their first win under Pochettino. The Blues have dominated possession in all three matches so far and will expect more of the same against Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest were involved in a relegation battle last season. They have been busy in the transfer window to avoid the drop again. Steve Cooper’s side have played well at the Emirates and Old Trafford this season. However, their only points came at home to Sheffield United.
The Blues have had at least 19 shots in two of their three matches at Stamford Bridge under Pochettino. Chelsea looked dangerous against Luton and continued to pile the pressure after taking the lead.
Since returning to the top flight, Nottingham Forest have allowed the opposition to have plenty of shots. This is especially true when playing the top sides on the road. They played ten matches against last season’s Chelsea, Tottenham and last season’s top six away from home, conceding an average of 18 shots per game.
England, Premier League, Saturday, September 2nd, 17:30 (UK)
This promised to be one of the most entertaining of the weekend. Brighton were left stunned by West Ham last weekend, but this is the perfect opportunity for them to bounce back. Roberto De Zerbi was keen to manage expectations in the aftermath of that defeat, but the Seagulls remain one of the most dangerous sides in the league.
Newcastle appeared to have the game won against Liverpool. They were 1-0 up against ten men, but late heroics from Darwin Nunez extended the Magpies’ losing run over the Reds. Eddie Howe’s side have suffered back-to-back defeats and need to return to winning ways here.
Brighton averaged 18.47 shots per game at home last season. Only Arsenal had more in the league. They have also had plenty of attempts in their early matches of this season. De Zerbi’s side are currently averaging 22.67 across their three games. They were beaten 4-1 the last time they faced Newcastle and will be out for revenge here.
This bet narrowly lost when Newcastle played at the Amex last season. The Seagulls managed 13 shots in that game, but Graham Potter was still in charge. Brighton managed 15 or more shots in 12 of De Zerbi’s 16 league matches in charge at the Amex last season.
England, Premier League, Sunday, September 3rd, 14:00 (UK)
Crystal Palace have made a decent start. Eyebrows were raised when Roy Hodgson was brought back to the club to replace Patrick Viera, but it appears to be a savvy decision at this stage.
Wolves had a tumultuous buildup to this campaign. Julen Lopetegui left the club just days before their opening match, but Gary O’Neil appears to have steadied the ship. They secured three points at Goodison Park last weekend and will be hopeful of avoiding a relegation battle this season.
Crystal Palace’s home matches last season saw 39.95 tackles per game on average, the 3rd most in the division. Their opponents contributed to 21.21 of these tackles. This bet has landed on the last four occasions that they have welcomed Wolves to Selhurst Park. The visitors are averaging 29.25 tackles per game over this period.
Wolves league matches so far this season have seen plenty of tackles. There have been 41 tackles or more in all three games they have played, with an average of 43.33 per match. This is more than any other Premier League at this stage. Gary O’Neil’s side has posted 20.33 tackles per game, but they are facing the side that forced the most challenges last season.
England, Premier League, Sunday, September 3rd, 16:30 (UK)
Arsenal were left disappointed as they had to settle for a draw against ten-man Fulham in their last match. The Gunners had 71% possession, but the visitors were able to snatch a late equaliser, even after they were reduced to 10 men. Mikel Arteta knows the importance of making a fast start when trying to contend with Manchester City, so they need to respond here.
Manchester United looked bamboozled as they fell two goals behind inside four minutes to Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford last week. They managed to come back and win, but it’s been a poor start to the season for Erik Ten Hag’s side. The Red Devils are already plagued by injuries. The tactical setup has also left them looking fragile defensively.
This fixture last season was an entertaining affair. There were chances for both teams, but Arsenal managed to rack up 25 attempts. The Gunners averaged 18.63 shots per game at the Emirates last season.
Manchester United conceded 17 shots when they travelled to London to face Tottenham a couple of weeks ago. Erik Ten Hag’s side have been poor on the road against the top teams. They conceded an average of 21.8 shots per game across their five away matches against the rest of the top six last season. This bet landed in all of those matches.
