We’ve got RB Leipzig vs Celtic bet builder tips this Wednesday night. The third Champions League matchday of the season is set to be another entertaining one. The focus will be on whether the hosts can earn their first group stage points of the season.
While at the same time, points are what Celtic are also looking to earn and after an impressive draw at Shakhtar, Ange Postecoglou’s men are now off the mark.
In this article:
Wednesday, October 5th, 17:45 (UK)
After Dominico Tedesco was sacked as manager of RB Leipzig in early September, it was left for Marco Rose to take the reins. If the board was hoping for the bounce that comes with any new installation, those hopes have been largely unfulfilled.
Because although the Red Bull Arena outfit made light work of Vfl Bochum on Saturday, their Bundesliga form has been rather indifferent. Before the visit of Celtic, they find themselves in the bottom half of the table.
While there is little to shout about when it comes to their European performances. Although a defeat to Real Madrid was to be expected during Matchday 2, the home reverse to Shakhtar on Matchday 1 was not.
A pair of defeats that places the German outfit bottom of Group F. If they are to have any hopes of continuing their European exploits into the New Year then a win over Celtic must be recorded.
Then again, Celtic will have identified this fixture as one that is certainly winnable. Should they take the three points it would only enhance their own bid to at least earn a Europa League knockout round play-off next February.
Going into this encounter, Celtic will at least be boosted by their return to domestic winning ways. After seeing their lengthy Premiership unbeaten streak ended by St Mirren before the international break, they got the better of Motherwell last Saturday.
When looking at the form guide for not just Celtic but Scottish sides in the Champions League, trips to Germany have a habit of not panning out all too well. Not only have Celtic failed to win any of their last 13 European visits here but they have also failed to score in nine.
Not only that but no Scottish representative has won either a European Cup or Champions League fixture in Germany since Rangers’ win over Vorwärts Berlin in November 1961. This means the weight of history is certainly against them.
Add RB Leipzig’s hunger for a first win in this season’s Champions League and this combination of factors is only going to make life more difficult for Celtic. This is why I am adding a home win to my bet builder slip.
Not only that, but I am looking at the goals market as well and with Christoper Nkunku building a burgeoning love affair with the Champions League, I have also backed the 24-year-old to score anytime.
Although I have Celtic down to lose on Wednesday, I do think they will at least give their travelling support something to shout about and for this reason, both teams to score is third selection before kick-off.
While last but certainly not least is Kyogo Furuhashi’s own attacking contribution. With the Japanese forward well placed to get some form of consolation for Celtic, over 0.5 shots on target seems a shrewd move.
This means when you add all these four components together, the bet builder odds are currently at 7.50 and at this price, this will only make things more interesting before Wednesday evening.
Bet Builder odds: 7.50
