As another month draws to a close, there’s time for one last Saturday night bettingexpert Acca. Taking in late night games in England, Italy and France.
In this article:
England, Premier League, Saturday, October 29th, 19:45 (UK)
A midweek UCL defeat of Ajax softened the blow for Liverpool who suffered a disappointing defeat to rock-bottom Nottingham Forest in the league last Saturday. The 3-0 win in Amsterdam sealed a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League.
Now, the attention turns back to domestic action as they look to close the five points gap to fourth place and the 12 they are adrift of leaders Arsenal. The defeat at the City Ground was the third of the season for Jurgen Klopp’s side. That’s already one more EPL defeat than they suffered in the whole of 2021/22. The Reds are unbeaten in their last 29 home league games (W22 D7). Scoring 73 goals and conceding just 16 in that run.
Leeds are winless in their last eight league games, losing six. The longest current run without a win among all current sides in the top flight. Jesse Marsch’s side are yet to win away from home this season. Losing each of their last four road trips shipping 10 goals in the process.
Virgil van Dijk holds the record for the most EPL home games played for a single club without ever losing with 70 (W59, D11). He also seems to enjoy playing against Leeds. The Netherlands international has won all three matches he’s played against them, scoring twice. He should have scored last weekend but was a little too selfless on a couple of occasions. Also forcing a fantastic save with a header deep in injury time. I am taking him to put that right against a defence that shows vulnerability to balls into the box.
Italy, Serie A, Saturday, October 29th, 19:45 (UK)
It’s been a good week for the Nerazzurri. Firstly, Henrikh Mkhitaryan capped a frantic finale with a 95th-minute winner as Inter recovered from twice squandering the lead to beat Fiorentina in a seven-goal thriller. Then secured their place in the last 16 of the UCL with a dominant 4-0 win over Viktoria Plzeň. A goalscoring return for Romelu Lukaku after 12 missed matches was an added bonus.
Sampdoria won their first Serie A victory of the season at Cremonese last weekend. Dejan Stanković billed the fixture against their relegation rivals as a must-win and was pleased they “found a way”. Although the Blucerchiati remain in the bottom 3, they at least know a shock win at the San Siro will lift them above the dotted line if only temporarily. The form book is not on their side. With Samp only winning two of their last 16 away games and all of their last five visits to play Inter here. Conceding a hefty 15 goals in the process.
With goals on the menu here I am siding with a player at longer odds than the usual suspects to hit the back of the net. Denzel Dumfries has been an attack-minded wing-back throughout the campaign so far. Tallying 21 shots at goal from 16 appearances in all competitions.
The 26-year-old has been a bit quieter in recent outings but recorded multiple attempts at goal for the first time in seven games on Wednesday against Plzeň. Having scored twice this term this looks a good time to get the Netherlands international back on side.

France, Ligue 1, Saturday, October 29th, 20:00 (UK)
Strasbourg are struggling to follow up their top 6 finish last season. Just one win from 12 games this season leaves Julien Stéphan’s side out of the relegation places on goal difference. Only one point ahead of rock-bottom Angers. The come-from-behind 2-2 draw with Toulouse at the weekend was a fifth successive game where they have conceded at least two goals.
After a fantastic start to their campaign, Marseille have hit a bad run of form. Unbeaten in their opening nine Ligue 1 fixtures, Les Olympiens have now lost their last three. All of which came by just a single goal as was the case in midweek. A 2-1 defeat to Eintracht Frankfurt sent Igor Tudor’s men to the foot of Group D. There is still everything to play for however with just two points separating the four teams ahead of MD6. The pressure is certainly on to return to winning ways in this clash at Stade de la Meinau.
I have mentioned before Matteo Guendouzi is playing in a far more advanced role than one to which we are accustomed to seeing. In midweek the 23-year-old powerfully side-footed a volley into the roof of the net as the most advanced Marseille player from a superb Chancel Mbemba cross. He now has three goals from nine shots in his last five starts when playing as an attacking midfielder. Although I liked the possibility of getting either wing-back Nuno Tavares or Jonathan Clauss on side. But it was interesting to note both were shorter odds than Guendouzi who is definitely the value play here.

A football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create football accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
