Saturday Night Football Acca: July 30th
Saturday night sees the 100th edition of the English season’s traditional ‘curtain raiser’ as well as the opening week of EFL fixtures. Here I have selected two bets from England plus one from Brazil.

Liverpool vs Manchester City Preview
England, Community Shield, Saturday, July 30th, 17:00 (UK)
This will be a unique season due to the winter World Cup starting in November. As a result, FA Cup holders Liverpool come into this curtain raiser just 63 days after losing the UCL final.
While Premier League champions Manchester City have played just two pre-season friendlies.
Jurgen Klopp has already seen his side beaten twice in their four warm-up fixtures.
Pep Guardiola’s men arrive at the King Power stadium full of confidence following two wins and a debut strike from marquee signing Erling Haaland.
The Community Shield is often no more than a final opportunity for minutes in legs ahead of the big kick-off. With little separating these rivals in recent years, this represents an early opportunity to make a statement of intent.
Liverpool vs Manchester City Best Bet
City will start the match as the slight favourites and given their respective pre-season form there is no reason to disagree. However, with a win apiece and two draws from their last four meetings, backing City on the Asian handicap to include a half stake refund for a stalemate is the best option.
- Selection: Man City -0.25 Asian Handicap
- Best Odds: 2.08 (bet365)
- Stakes: 5/10

Middlesbrough vs West Brom Preview
England, Championship, Saturday, July 30th, 17:30 (UK)
Two sides expected to battle it out at the top of the Championship collide on the opening weekend of the season. One of the league’s most respected managers hosts one of the most maligned.
No team won more home Championship games than Middlesbrough’s 14 last season. West Brom were woefully disappointing last term but the signings of Jed Wallace and John Swift signal their intent to challenge this time around.
Boro have won only two of their last 21 opening day league games. Steve Bruce brings a proud six-game unbeaten run in Championship season openers.
Chris Wilder’s team shaded this fixture 2-1 back in February with the winning goal from the now departed Marcus Tavernier. With both sides much changed, calling a winner is a bit of a minefield.
Middlesbrough vs West Brom Best Bet
Instead, focussing on corners is the best angle in. The home side ranked 3rd for corners won in the last campaign at an average of 5.98 per game. The Baggies averaged 5.76 placing them 5th.
New left-back Ryan Giles will add to the threat of Isiah Jones and allow Boro to maraude down both flanks. Having Daryl Dike as a target up top will encourage the visitors to cross into the box, also utilising Wallace’s quality set piece deliveries as frequently as possible.
- Selection: Over 10 Asian Total Corners
- Best Odds: 2.00 (bet365)
- Stakes: 5/10

Goiás vs Coritiba Preview
Brazil, Serie A, Saturday, July 30th, 20:30 (UK)
Goiás failed to win for a 4th successive game at Sao Paulo last weekend. Although they will have been pleased to return with a point. The home side missed a penalty and Pedro Raul made them pay with an injury-time equaliser. This game represents no better chance to snap that winless sequence.
Although placed 14th in Serie A, Coritiba are reliant on results at their Estádio Couto Pereira. “Coxa-Branca” have picked up just two points from nine road trips. The lowest points haul away from home in the Brazilian top flight. Furthermore, they have conceded a league-high 21 goals on their travels. Shipping at least two goals in 11 of their last 12.
With their visitors having played on Monday night Jair Ventura’s side will have an extra 48 hours of recovery time.
Goiás vs Coritiba Best Bet
With both sides on 22 points backing the aforementioned Pedro Raul to score holds the key to exploiting Coritiba’s wretched away form. The 6ft 4in striker is on loan from Japanese club Kashiwa Reysol. Ten goals in 17 matches this term has made him a firm fan favourite. Only Fluminense’s 12 goal German Cano leads him in the scoring charts. A goal in each of his last two outings means the 25-year-old is in form. He will expect to add to his tally against the league’s leakiest defence.
- Selection: Pedro Raul to score at anytime
- Best Odds: 2.62 (bet365)
- Stakes: 5/10

What is a Football acca?
A football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create football accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
