International games don’t get much bigger than this as a potential World Cup place is at stake for these sides who are set to battle it out at Hampden Park in Glasgow on Wednesday night.
The hosts do have the home advantage as they play at their national stadium which holds 51,866 people and there is no doubt that the ground will be sold out with what’s at stake and do arrive here as slight favorites
Ukraine has had an incredibly tough past few months but may feel this is the perfect opportunity to spread some positivity for their country and come away with a win in Glasgow. They are priced at 2.30 to qualify whereas Scotland are available at 1.66 to overcome Oleksandr Petrakov’s side.
Scotland haven’t featured in a World Cup since 1998 so it’s clear how much this game will mean to both the fans and the players as well as the entire country. Wales currently await the victors between these two nations in the final after they defeated Austria at the end of March.

From a betting perspective I have decided to turn my attention towards a bet builder which I’ll be placing on Bet 365. This clash can be tricky to determine an outright winner so I’m more than happy to focus on some different angles.
The player shot markets seemed a good way to start off with Ruslan Malinovskyi my first selection. His shot averages for the national side are excellent, the 29 year-old averages well over two shots per game in each competition he’s featured in.
Che Adams will be most likely leading the line for Scotland, the Southampton forward had three and four shots in his most recent matches for Steve Clarke’s side, he’ll be roared on by the home crowd and will be looking to get a shot off whenever he can.
Bookings seems a relevant way to turn with the size of this fixture, Danny Makkelie is taking charge of these sides and I’m sure he’ll be giving at least one card to either side which he has done in all of his previous four games across the qualification stages.
A lack of goals could be worth adding into the bet builder on Wednesday night, neither side will be wanting to concede a cheap goal so this game can quite easily start very cagey and conservatively.

- Each Team 1+ Card
- Under 3.5 Match Goals
Best Odds: 4.00

A price of 4.00 is available for the bet builder which seems a nice price given the selections. The individual players could have a huge say in the game and may be the key factor as to why their respective nation comes away victorious.
The cards may be a late arrival in the match, potential time wasting may be a prime reason for a caution as well as tactical fouls preventing a counter attack. The Dutch ref will want to let the game flow but with his experience will know when he’ll have to brandish his cards.
Scotland have been on an impressive run of form, they won all six of their recent World Cup Qualification matches with a 2-0 win over Denmark, the pick of the bunch. The boss said he is determined to reach the World Cup in Qatar later this year.
This will be Ukraine’s first competitive game since November, they finished runners up in Group D to current World Cup Winners France. Over the last couple of weeks they have had friendlies against club sides from Germany, Italy and Croatia which saw them win twice and draw the other.
The neutrals will be well and truly behind the visitors come Wednesday night given recent events however five of the last play off fixtures for Qatar have seen the home side progress which will provide some positivity.
Overall in what should be an exhilarating atmosphere the game could be quite the opposite but the bet builder approach looks a good way in. The Scots arrive as favorites to meet with Wales but Ukraine and the entire footballing world will siding with the visitors.
WHAT IS A BET BUILDER?
A bet builder is a kind of accumulator bet solely focussed on one match. A standard acca features multiple selections across different selections combined together into one bet. If one selection loses, the whole bet loses. A bet builder is similar but each selection is placed on the same match. Similar to the American prop bet, the bet builder goes into detail on a single match. Common selections include match outcome, total goals, cards, corners, and players to score.
