Here at bettingexpert, Devang Prasad sat down with former Manchester United defender Mikael Silvestre. Devang and Silvestre had an interesting conversation on Manchester United’s hopes of securing Champions League football which hangs on a thread. United currently find themselves behind both Aston Villa and Tottenham in the race for fourth.
Silvestre also believes that Alejandro Garnacho has the potential to be one of the league’s best wingers and praised the Argentines attitude since breaking into the United first team.
Both Tottenham and Aston Villa look well placed, a fourth placed finish which leaves Manchester United in a precarious position. Whilst fifth could secure them a place in next season’s Champions League, there are no guarantees as things stand. Silvestre, who still harbours hopes of a Champions League place next season, says if United do not succeed in their hopes they would be better off having no European football to play.
“It would be better for United to either be in the Champions League or not to be in Europe at all.”
“I would further say it would be better to just not be in any European competition next season because United need full weeks without distractions.”
“The Europa Conference League would be a distraction. It would give more time for players to play but having Monday to Friday in training, working on tactics and the game plan wouldn’t be a bad thing for United.”
Alejandro Garnacho again showed his importance to the Manchester United side in the win over Everton.Garnacho earned both penalties and has been ever present for Erik ten Hag starting the last 25 games under the Dutchman.
Garnacho enjoyed a breakthrough season last year and has since established himself as one of ten Hag’s go to men. Silvestre believes the young star can go on to be one of the league’s best wingers but warns he still has a lot to add to his game before he reaches his desired heights.
“If Garnacho wants to be one of the league’s best wingers he can be.”
“He has the pace and the desire to take on players and to make a difference. He still has a lot to add to his game.
“He’s young and far from being perfect but he’s trying and he’s brave. He will lose some duels and challenges but he’s not shying away from responsibility. He’s a threat every game he plays so he’s learning.”
With the way Garnacho is improving, could Garnacho be of interest to the other big clubs in the world? Whilst it is only his second full season as a first team player, the younger winger despite his inconsistency does excite the fans at Old Trafford.
“It’s way too early to link him with a big move to Madrid. He’s playing because someone who cost £100m is not performing.”
“He’s taken his chance but I think he should stay at United and I don’t think big clubs will be coming in for him any time soon.”
