With Rangers set to play Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2022 Europa League final, fans from Glasgow will be gearing up for the trip to Seville. Not only Glasgow but Rangers fans from all of Scotland will be excited to turn up in droves in the Andalusian capital and support the Gers.
Well, we looked at how much it is going to cost to stay in Seville during the Europa League final and it will cost fans a pretty penny.
We looked at round trip fares to Seville from both Glasgow and Edinburgh, AirBnb and hotel prices (via bookings.com) in Seville and also the price for four ‘inexpensive’ meals.
Taking all of that into account, it would cost a Rangers fan £2,228.59 to stay in Seville during the final, if they’re flying in from Glasgow. For people flying in from Edinburgh, it’ll be slightly cheaper with the overall cost coming to £2,092.85.
On the other hand, the trip will not be as heavy on the pocket for Eintracht Frankfurt fans who will have to shell out £1,991.25 for the trip.
With Seville hosting a major final, the hotel and flight fares see a sharp increase on May 18, the day of the final. These changes are documented in the tables below
The fares on May 18 spiked up by 169.98% (using May 17 as a base) for AirBnb listings and 103.74% for bookings.com listings.
Checking in on the 17th of May looks to be a better ‘value-for-money’ option.
Flights from Edinburgh to Frankfurt are cheaper than ones from Glasgow, which makes sense as Edinburgh is a bigger airport. The different flight prices are illustrated in the tables below:
There is marked increase in flight prices from both cities on May 18 - 65.19% from Glasgow (using May 17 as base) and 81.31% from Edinburgh.
While the Europa League final is of course the priority for football fans, if you want to gain more value for money from the trip to Seville, it’s better to arrive a couple of days earlier than the final, and leave a day or two after.
Those extra days would be perfect to explore the beautiful city of Seville and explore the Alcazar, the Seville Cathedral and gorge into some amazing Andalusian cuisine.
