Arantxa Rus and Martina Trevisan celebrated a tournament win this past weekend, and now they will battle in the first round of the Palermo Ladies Open on Monday in Italia.
Martina Trevisan is returning to her native Italia after hoisting the hardware in Bastad and winning her first title on tour since 2022.
Arantxa Rus completed a perfect run at The Hague on Sunday to win her first tournament title this season, as she felt right at home in the Netherlands.
Someone’s win streak is ending today, and EJ Garr’s Arantxa Rus vs Martina Trevisan prediction features odds at -105 which you can find below.

Martina Trevisan is from Florence but being back in Italia has still got to be a great feeling coming off a tournament win at Bastad. The Sicilian Capital will host this WTA125 event and the Italian brings a 5-match win streak from her run to the title at Bastad.
I will tell you right away that I am riding the Italian’s momentum to advance to the second round in Palermo, and it is because she was tested in Sweden by some decent players and just kept winning.
I covered the Bastad semifinal match between Trevisan and Chrico to end last week, and that went exactly as I thought it would. There were plenty of games in that first set to cash our +145 ticket, and the Italian won as she went on to win the entire tourney after taking out Ann Li on Sunday in straight sets.
Arantxa Rus returned home to the Netherlands last week, and all she did was go 5 – 0 en route to The Hague trophy. The issue for me is the quality of opponents the Dutch native rolled through because the list of players features
Gina Feistel was Rus’ final win to secure The Hague trophy and the Polish National is ranked 321st in the world. Rus couldn’t even sweep Feistel needing three sets to earn the title, and Nastaja Schunk was her semifinal opponent and she is ranked 425th on tour.
I don’t understand why the line setters see this as a coin-flip call because my coin has Trevisan having no problem getting past Rus. At -105, the nickel-juice offer is the play to make on Trevisan in this first-round clash in Palermo.
Rus won the WTA75 event in the Netherlands going 5 – 0, and as a result, she carries a positive record of 10 – 8 this season on clay into Palermo.
Arantxa put up her most impressive season on clay last year winning 43 of 51 matches on the dirt. The Dutch native won 5 tournaments on clay a year ago, although four of those events were at the ITF level.
Martina Trevisan also takes a 5-match win streak into this tourney from her run to the Bastad title.
The 30-year-old Italian is 3 – 11 on grass and hardcourts this year but her record on clay is now 12 – 9 after the 5 – 0 run in Sweden.
Rus and Trevisan have met thrice on tour and the Italian holds a 2 – 1 edge in the series.
Their first meeting was in 2018 in Vancouver, and Trevisan made quick work of Rus winning in straight sets.
In July 2021, they met in Belgrade and Rus returned the favor with a straight-sets victory in the quarterfinals.
The most recent meeting was played in 2022 in Morocco, and Trevisan again swept Rus in straight sets in the quarters of that event. Martina went on to win that title.
