It’ll be a stern test for the in-form Hungarian Anna Bondar, as she takes on one of the best defenders and athletes on the women’s circuit in Sara Sorribes Tormo.

In a match where Bondar will have to remain on the front foot and play an aggressive, yet controlled style, Sorribes Tormo could present a big problem for the 25-year-old.
She’s managed to cruise to victory against the likes of Panna Udvardy and Martina Trevisan (two other players who don’t have as much pace in their groundstrokes from the baseline), but neither of those women have the quality that the Spaniard possesses.
Without the raw power to hit Sorribes Tormo off-court, and also prone to bouts of inconsistent play, Bondar matches up really poorly in this one.
With Sorribes Tormo having a slightly better hold plus break percentage, despite playing tougher competition on the clay over the last 52 weeks (has an elo rating over 70 points better), along with a strong matchup edge against someone that will struggle to hit through both the surface and her defence, I’m inclined to back the world No. 41 here.

As alluded to above, everything lines up well here for Sorribes Tormo. With my pricing indicating she should be in the 1.40 to 1.45 range odds-wise, there is plenty of value to be had with the Spaniard over 1.55 with several bookmakers.
