In the first of two semifinal affairs at the Prague Open on Thursday Magda Frech and Laura Samson will battle it out for a spot in the final at the WTA250 event in the Czech Republic. EJ Garr’s Magdalena Frech vs Laura Samson prediction features odds at +145 and you can find his best bet below.

Laura ‘Cinderella’ Samson has felt at home in Prague as the Czech native rides a cloud into her first main draw semifinal of her young career. The 16-year-old was born here in Prague and is on the verge of a shot at a title with two more wins.

Magda Frech isn’t interested in helping the youngster make more history and the Pole will be a heavy favorite with odds at -250 to get past upstart Laura Samson.

Magdalena Frech vs Laura Samson Prediction: Cinderella Samson Feeling At Home

  • Prediction: Match Total Over 2.5 Sets
  • Best Odds: +145
  • Bookmaker: Pinnacle
  • Stakes: 3/10

Odds updated at 7:00 am UK Time July 25, 2024.

Laura Samson is ranked 634th in the world, so what is she doing in a semifinal in Prague at only 16 years old? With this appearance at a WTA250 event, Samson’s ranking will certainly improve and the Prague native is making the most of her first shot in a WTA main draw and the Czech knows how to win on clay.

Samson ripped off 15 straight wins on clay from May 15 to June 7th with a run that ended in the Girls’ French Open Finals!

As it is relatively obvious, Samson is just getting her WTA career started but at 16 years old she is gaining respect having already clipped a top 50 opponent when she bashed Siniakova out of Prague in the second round.

We cashed the Frech vs Kalinina Over 2.5 sets prop yesterday, and Magda provided a big upset in the quarterfinal as a +140 underdog. In direct opposition in today’s semi at Prague Open, Frech is the one with the chalk on the board and Pinnacle is offering odds as high as -263 on the Pole to reach the final.

Draft Kings here in New York is posting odds at -125 toward Samson to take a set from Frech today, and instead of playing with the juice I am turning to a bet you have seen often from me.

We’re going the distance! Magda has played to three sets in all three of her fights in Prague, and it’s about to happen for the fourth straight time today. At +152, Pinnacle offers the best price on the Over 2.5 Sets prop, go jump in it!

MAGDALENA FRECH RECENT FORM

Mafda is ranked 57th on the WTA Tour, and it took the Pole quite some time to crack into the top 100 last season. At 26 years old, most women are hitting their prime about now but Magda has a tendency to lose track of her game.

Frech just shook off a 5-match losing skid dating back to the grass season, and is now looking for the first 4-match win streak since Dubai in February.

Magda has a record of 75 – 55 on clay since 2017, and her only title win on this surface came here in Prague in A WTA60 event in 2021.

LAURA SAMSON RECENT FORM

Laura Samson has won three titles at the ITF level this campaign, and now the Prague native gets a crack at a final in her home town!

As long as she can limit the unforced errors due to some nerves, I expect Samson to give Frech all she can handle in the semis.

Samson has compiled a 19 – 4 record on clay in her first full season at only 16 years old, and she was one win away from taking the French Open Girls’ title last month.

FRECH VS SAMSON H2H –  STAT OF THE MATCH

This is the first meeting between Frech and Samson on the WTA Tour.

Frech has the potential to make this an all-Polska final in Prague if she and Magda Linette can win their semifinal outings. Check out my Noskova vs Linette prediction in the second semifinal at the Prague Open.
