Tight start to the match for Jodie Burrage, as she struggled to find traction against Elsa Jacquemot’s first serve. From 3-3 in the first set, though, it was one-way traffic, as we cash the nice 1.72 price there in expectedly dominant fashion.
For Thursday’s selection from the women’s events on offer we head to Mexico and the 125K event in Tampico to preview the match between Camila Osorio and Elisabetta Cocciaretto.

October 27th, Time TBD
What an incredible win for Cocciaretto on Wednesday in her second-round encounter against Marie Bouzkova. After entering as a sizable underdog – and with good reason, considering how well Bouzkova has played this season on hard courts – the Italian was able to win a three-hour marathon match 7-5 in a deciding set.
That may fill her with confidence, but I’m not so sure that it’s a net positive in terms of her chances in the quarterfinal against Osorio. The recovery from that can be tough, and with Osorio presenting a very similar test on Thursday, Cocciaretto may find it tough to replicate the ability to play against one of the better athletes and defenders you’ll find at this level.
Similar to the Czech, Osorio is an incredible mover, defends impeccably well and can generate angles to turn rallies around.
Her forehand also has a sneaky amount of pop, giving her several ways to win points. She can find the occasional winner, wait for an error, or find tremendous angles with her shotmaking abilities to turn defence into offence.
Cocciaretto is a steady baseliner, but her game lacks any real signature characteristic. She’s a decent mover, but far from the best. She’s fairly consistent, but not a wall defensively. Finally, she can find decent pace on her groundstrokes, but isn’t going to blow anyone off the court.
From having more dimensions to her game, to the time on-court advantage the Colombian possesses (by contrast to Cocciaretto’s three-hour match, Osorio was only on the court for an hour and 15 minutes, and also had the earlier start time), I’m happy to price Osorio as a much larger favourite than the odds the markets have up.
I make her a 1.55 favourite, so the 1.73 on offer gives me plenty of room to find value.
Odds as at 1:45 am on October 27th, 2022. Odds may now differ.
