Lovely stuff from Maximilian Marterer, who was able to take advantage of a less-than-100% Oscar Otte to dominate in Sweden and cash the handicap with ease.
For Tuesday’s preview, we’ll look to an underdog to keep things closer than expected indoors in the United States.
For our ATP preview, we’ll once again look to the Challenger Tour, this time at the Champaign-Urbana Challenger and Titouan Droguet vs Viktor Durasovic.

In this article:
I’ve seen Durasovic over perform his valuation in the markets far too often in matches – even in matches he ultimately loses – to believe that in quicker conditions that a very normal total of 22.5 games should be over even money.
Droguet has taken a step forward this season and is the deserved favourite, but I do think the serve and forehand combination for the Norwegian, along with the quicker courts and the match being played indoors should help Durasovic avoid embarrassment in this one.

I have to admit that earlier in the season, Droguet was a player I simply refused to believe could sustain his relatively shocking success at the Challenger Tour level.
As the season has progressed, however, I’ve been converted into a believer in his game, with a strong first serve, plenty of rally tolerance from the baseline and the ability to put points away as well.
When he gets into medium or quicker court conditions, his pop really plays up and his game actually looks a tad powerful as well, adding another dimension to his game.
The question here will be if he’s able to find a break in each set in order to win this game in a more straightforward fashion.
The form hasn’t been great for Durasovic so far this year, but I believe those who pay close attention to the Challenger Tour would agree that his record and results simply aren’t indicative of his actual talent.
Whether that’s a mental block or just not being able to sustain his top level within matches, I’m not sure, but he’s been competitive in a lot of his losses of late.
Whether on clay or on hard courts, he’s played his fair share of three setters and has played plenty of tiebreaks.
I’m not one to rely on trends when making my bets, but I do believe there’s something to the elevated number of tiebreaks that 26-year-old has played.
His game has more power than most realise and that allows him to keep sets and matches nice and close.
These two have only met once, where Durasovic emerged victorious when the Frenchman had to retire after just four games.
Obviously that result is meaningless, with the match played on clay, Droguet improving drastically since then and an injury playing an important role.
