Tuesday Tennis Best Bet: WTA Monastir, Nuria Parrizas Diaz vs Harriet Dart
Nuria Parrizas Diaz vs Harriet Dart Best Bet: Tuesday, October 4th
After a successful start to the week, thanks to a dominant performance from Claire Liu, we’ll stick with the event in Tunisia for Tuesday’s selection from the women’s game.
First up on court for the day, Nuria Parrizas Diaz will take on Harriet Dart for a spot in the second round. In fact, it’s one of 10 first rounders taking place in the coastal town.

Nuria Parrizas Diaz vs Harriet Dart Preview
October 4th, 11:00 UK Time
A nice chance for Dart here to exact revenge after she was beaten in fairly routine fashion a few weeks ago by Parrizas Diaz in the Canadian town of Granby.
A fairly talented youngster, Dart has struggled since the grass season, but really should see her game translate to hard courts, with strong movement, a pretty flat ball from the baseline and enough aggression to be rewarded on hard courts – especially those that play quicker.
Losses to Anastasia Potapova, Ajla Tomljanovic (in three sets) and Tereza Martincova (also in three sets) are all somewhat excusable – though the blown leads are a tad concerning. Some of the others, however, are head scratchers, to say the least.
Parrizas Diaz hasn’t exactly been lighting up the tour in her own right, failing to win a match since that Granby victory against her counterpart on Tuesday, back in August. What’s more, is after the U.S. Open, she went back to playing clay, and is now transitioning back to hard courts, and likely ones on the quicker side of things to boot.
The 31-year-old isn’t just on a losing streak, either. She’s actually failed to win a set since Granby, and other than one 7-5 set, the rest have all been relatively straightforward for her opposition.
Nuria Parrizas Diaz vs Harriet Dart Best Bet
To me, it appears as though this market is relying heavily on the last performance between these two just prior to the U.S. Open to make the Spaniard a favourite.
While she did cruise to victory, it was an uncharacteristically poor Dart on that day, and I’m still inclined to believe Dart’s game is better-suited to the hard courts and on a potentially quicker surface like the courts used in Monastir, she can certainly rush Parrizas Diaz – something that has led to her being erratic in the past.
I’ll back the Brit here as odds just over evens.
