Much more routine loss on Tuesday, as Tauson looked much more like the prospect of a few years ago, missing very little and absolutely crushing Sabine Lisicki on Tuesday.

For Wednesday from Angers, we’ll look at the match between Greet Minnen and Jessika Ponchet to get us back on track.

Somewhat surprised to see Minnen move to the 1.60 price range against her French opponent in this one, considering how one-dimensional Ponchet’s game is, and that one dimension is something Minnen is actually better at as well.

When it comes to being able to dictate play from the baseline, Minnen blows Ponchet out of the water, with Ponchet’s only real way to win points herself is to land her strong first serve.

That has been reflected by her results this year, with a 9/10 record on indoor hard courts, with almost no play at the higher levels of the game. In fact, each of her last three matches have needed a third set tiebreak to decide the winner, all against much less seasoned and quality opposition (on indoor hard courts) than Minnen will present on Wednesday.

While I respect Ponchet’s drive and ability to claw her way into the world’s top-200, the fact is, her game simply isn’t remotely good enough for my money to make a push much further up the rankings without significant improvement.

With Minnen having the better game, a better history on quicker courts and three dominant matches under her belt this week coming into this one, I’m happy to back her to take out a pesky, but underwhelming Ponchet.

Despite repeating the point of not overstaking at this point in the season, this match certainly has enough value to go up to a total staking of four points.

With my numbers showing some value on both the Minnen to win and games handicap markets, I’ll be taking out a position on both of those wagers to minimise risk, as I have Minnen in the 1.35 range to get the job done here.
