UTEP Miners vs North Texas Mean Green Preview

Can I just say that I am honored and humbled to be here posting my college football betting tips for this campaign? I have been posting college football bets since 1998 online for folks and my experience with college football dates back to the 1970s when I was a kid in New York.
So, enough about me. We have a game to cover to kick off the season and I am turning to the contest between North Texas and UTEP to open my NCAAF profile here. I chose this game because of the line and when I saw the even money offer from the line setters I knew right away where my allegiance was going.
Let me start with the fact that Dana Dimel is opening his 5th campaign with UTEP in 2022, and things have not exactly gone well when he’s taken on Seth Littrell and the Mean Green thus far. Dimel is 0 for 4 trying to beat this program and Littrell holds a 5 – 0 record over UTEP over his last 5 meetings with the Miners.
Now, we can go back to how last season unfolded because I am using some of that in my reasoning for why the Mean Green is winning this game on the road tonight. UTEP started last year 6 – 1 and then the wheels fell off finishing 1 – 5 with the final loss of the season coming against Fresno State in the New Mexico Bowl.
Miners QB Gavin Hardison still managed to take home an Honorable Mention All-Conference USA award, but he is losing his top-2 wide receivers and has had to deal with a tough off-season recalling how 2021 ended. Let’s keep in mind that the last time he was on the field, he fumbled against Fresno State in that bowl game and has had to live with that memory getting to opening weekend.
I read the article about his attention to taking care of the ball this year, and that is a natural reaction to now understanding the importance of how one possession can change the course of not just a game, but an entire campaign. He isn’t the only one who has to deal with the bowl game loss so I imagine that everyone who is returning wants to get that taste out of their mouths right away.
Austin Aune is primed to put up his own decent season after his miraculous run to the bowl game a year ago. After a 1 – 3 start, Coach Littrell decided to give Aune his first start against a Missouri team out of the SEC, and despite that loss, it built his confidence enough to help guide the Mean Green to a 5 – 0 end to the regular season.
I saw the Mean Green press conference they put out just yesterday and Aune seems to be brimming with confidence that he’ll be putting up big numbers in 2022. Aune has his entire receiving corps returning with him and the O-Line has 106 combined starts under their belts for the Denton, Texas outfit.
Oh, the total is 54, by the way. SMOOOSH! Stop it!

Smooosh means my goodness, and you can bet that these two teams are going to score to open the campaign. You all know by now I am a totals guy, and this Over 54 should be on your card with the Mean Green Moneyline offer I am suggesting. 35 – 32 is my call for a Mean Green win to start conference play with an away win in El Paso.
