Tunisia vs France Preview

France have impressed in their opening two group stage matches. Qualification is secured for Les Bleus and a point will be enough to secure top spot and a likely easier draw in the round of 16. They’ve won both games convincingly and will hope to make it three from three here.
The problem is clear for Tunisia. They just can’t seem to find the back of the net in this World Cup despite taking 27 shots on goal so far. They followed up a 0-0 draw with Denmark with a 1-0 defeat to Australia last week. That put their place in the knockout stage in serious doubt as they now need to beat the reigning world champions. No easy feat when you can’t seem to score.
Tunisia vs France Best Bet
Tunisia have never gone an entire World Cup campaign without scoring a goal. They’ve found the net at least once in their five previous appearances at the finals. It’s not completely out of the question here. France have only kept one clean sheet in their last eight competitive matches.
The win to nil for Les Bleus looks good at 2.38 but their defensive frailties – and the possibility of rotation is putting me off. Still, I would back the French to get a convincing victory and perhaps a goal or two for some of the incoming players. The Asian handicap line is set at -1.25 but I’d go a little further here. France look good value to win by at least a couple. Tunisia need to go for it here which will open up gaps for the French to exploit.

Saudi Arabia vs Mexico Preview

Saudi Arabia face off against Mexico with qualification a real possibility for both sides. The Saudis look a great deal likelier to get there. They’re currently in 3rd behind the two sides that face off in the other group match on Wednesday night. A win will do it, a draw might be enough. Can they afford to take that chance?
Nothing less than victory will do for Mexico. The perennial round-of-16 fodder at World Cups now look likely to head home in the group stage. El Tri need a win and, ideally, for the other match not to finish all square. They’ll worry that they missed their chance on matchday 1. The draw with Poland was a disappointing one but defeat against Argentina at the weekend was never really in doubt. Mexico have never really looked like scoring in this tournament so far. Surely that will change.
Saudi Arabia vs Mexico Best Bet
Goals are the play here. Saudi Arabia massively overperformed on their xG against Argentina and then massively underperformed on it against Poland. Still, they should have scored a few more in this tournament and certainly should have let in a few more along the way. That will be music to the ears of a Mexico side that hasn’t been able to create too much so far. They need to attack like never before here. Expect plenty of openings and maybe even goals for both sides. I’m sticking with the line and avoiding BTTS.

Poland vs Argentina Preview
World Cup Group C, Wednesday, November 30th 19:00 (UK)
1st vs 2nd in Group C sees Poland vs Argentina. Many had expected Lionel Messi and co to head into this match as the group leaders and en route to 9 points. Defeat on matchday 1 put an end to that but they’re still in the mix after beating Mexico at the weekend.
Poland earned top spot with their win over Saudi Arabia to add to their point from Mexico. The win was good, the fact that Robert Lewandowski broke his duck at the World Cup was even better. For all his goals, not one came at the finals of this illustrious competition. He’ll now want to add more.
The fact that both these teams need to get something from this match will make it an interesting one. It’s advantage Poland here. A draw will be enough to get them into the last 16 but Argentina need a win. It’s not as if both teams will be content to sit back and take a point.
Poland vs Argentina Best Bet
Argentina are growing into this competition. In terms of xG, their match against Saudi Arabia was better than their one with Mexico. They looked a little nervy at times against El Tri but they should have more than enough to get past Poland. They’ll be going all out for this one and will have too much for them. Poland hardly convinced against Mexico and were more than a little fortunate to get three points against Saudi Arabia. Expect a strong response from Argentina and for them to top the group and avoid a likely tie with France in the knockouts.
