The top of the table welcomes a clash worthy of top billing in 2023, and with that, bettingexpert provides Arsenal vs Newcastle bet builder tips for the head-turning battle. Eddie Howe takes on Mikel Arteta as an unbeaten Gunners side with a 100% record at the Emirates prepares for life alongside a tricky Toon outfit.

Who would have thought that 1st versus 3rd in the Premier League after 17 matches would look like this? Not me, that’s for sure. The expectation was there for Newcastle to give it a good go this year and threaten the European places after several impressive signings. However, to be two points shy of City and six ahead of Liverpool in January is impressive, to say the least.
The league leaders, Arsenal, have been a joy to watch. Swatting teams aside, both home and away, presents a belief in their play which doesn’t falter when conceding a goal or lining up against one of the division’s big boys.
In years gone by, that’s precisely when this Arsenal team would prove limp. Usually not quite good enough and too nice as a collective unit when nice was the last thing they needed to be. Now, they’re not just pretty on the eye. They’re deathlessly ruthless in front of goal when they need to be. Propped up by a returning William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães next to him, there’s also an assuredness at the back which hasn’t always been there at the Emirates in recent times.
In the away dressing room on Wednesday, it’s a similar story. The Magpies are turning heads during a time of transition both on and off the field. This period of growth, both on and off the field, is supposed to be rockier than it is. Instead, Eddie Howe has steadied a ship that looks destined for stardom. Feet are definitely on the ground in Newcastle, despite a sprinkle of supreme quality here and a club-record signing there.
Whether reinforcements arrive in January is another question entirely, though the components already at Howe’s disposal continue to tick all the necessary boxes for an assault at the upper echelons of the Premier League. With Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin in line for a starting berth against Arsenal after vacating the bench after an hour last time out, it’s a forward line that will trouble the best the Premier League has to offer.
Alongside the increasingly-noisy qualities of an ever-improving Miguel Almiron, that’s pace, power, and guile to unlock the sturdiest of defences.
The aforementioned pairing takes centre stage in the bet builder for Newcastle’s jaunt down south. Pragmatically, we’ll not ask for too much from them, especially the Frenchman, who may not remain on the pitch for the entirety of the 90 minutes, but the combined prices on offer mean I’d like to get them involved.
Together, for one shot each, the bet builder stands at 1.70. Saint-Maximin hasn’t played enough this season, with injuries plaguing his every move. Yet, when he has featured, a 2.62 shots per90 average from 4.6 90s outlines his want to work the keeper.
For Callum Wilson, the 2.99 from 9.0 90s does an adequate job of portraying a number nine intent on finding the back of the net. His form before the World Cup rightly put him in the frame for England duties, so expect more goal-hungry performances in black and white before long.
Arsenal at home is no easy task. One would expect them to stamp their imprint on proceedings during a season that has been so dominant up until this point. But that’s something we can work with.
With the likelihood of Arsenal taking the lead at some point, shots of the Newcastle variety could be forced to follow to change the game’s direction for the visitors. That being said, ASM and Wilson could be put in a position where one shot each is the least Newcastle fans will expect.
If the game does take such a path and Arsenal finds themselves protecting a lead, waves of second-half pressure may be on the agenda. However, even if that’s not the case, the Over 1.5 Goal Kicks in a 45-minute period with the likes of Almiron, ASM and Wilson at the top end of the pitch may be comfortable enough to get over the line.
An early Gunners goal on Tuesday evening could get the profitable wheels in motion for an attractive-looking, three-pronged, odds-against bet builder.
