Jimmy’s Punt: May 19th – 20th

I looked long and hard for an alternative, but a keeper card/ result trixie is the only option. Paying out at 85,050.00 it has to be.

Last weekend’s punt was average, and by average I mean it didn’t win and thus the barren spell continues.

The angle was backing against sides who had European second legs to play. Spezia beat Milan (4.33), Getafe lost at the Bernabeu and Stuttgart drew with Bayer Leverkusen.

Back to my favourite bet this weekend, just three keeper cards- and the three corresponding results- away from retirement.

Barnsley vs Bolton Preview

England, League One Playoffs, Friday, May 19th, 20:00 (UK)

As I write, neither of the League One playoff second legs have kicked off.

After Sheffield Wednesday’s extraordinary result against Portsmouth last night, Barnsley and Bolton’s match is perfectly poised on the other side of the draw.

Having learnt all about the perils of an away first leg, the Reds will be happy with the draw they took back across the Pennines. That said, their performance warranted more.

The Wanderers may have dominated possession, but the Reds dominated everything else, outshooting the hosts 19-7, they had five times as many shots on target and missed all three of their ‘big chances’.

This is exactly why Bolton will be enthused, despite their sloppy performance, they are still very much in this game.

Dion Charles grabbed the equaliser. A case of right place, right time for the side’s top goalscorer.

Barnsley vs Bolton Best Bet

Barnsley took 39 points from a possible 45 at Oakwell from the end of October to their penultimate league game.

Bolton and Ipswich were the only sides to beat them over that period. Ian Evatt’s side put three past Barnsley without reply.

Yes, Barnsley had a man sent off at 0-0. And, yes, Dion Charles scored from the resulting penalty but that does not matter.

For James Trafford to get booked, his side will have to score first, but if they do, there is no doubt this sell out crowd will get on Bolton’s stoppers back.

Trafford already has four cards to his name, half of which for time wasting.

  • Selection: Bolton Win, James Trafford Card (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 36.00 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 5/10

Liverpool vs Aston Villa Preview

England, Premier League, Saturday, May 20th, 15:00 (UK)

Liverpool have defied all odds and hoisted themselves well into the race for Champions League qualification.

After their 2-2 draw with Arsenal, a little over a month ago, they dropped to eighth, 12 points behind Manchester United in fourth.

Seven wins later and Jurgen Klopp’s side are just one point behind the Red Devils, albeit they have played a game more.

They welcome Aston Villa to Anfield, a side with their own European hopes to keep alive.

As it stands, Unai Emery’s side are in a three-horse race for sixth spot. They are level on points with Spurs, and a point behind Brighton, though the Seagulls have two games in hand and a substantially better goal difference.

Under the Spanish supremos reign, only four sides have won more points than the Villans tally of 48. Villa have only lost three times on the road in that period, against both Manchester clubs and Wolves.

Liverpool vs Aston Villa Best Bet

As the odds suggest, siding with Villa at Anfield is foolish, and the chances of a winner are slim.

Only City have won more points on their own patch than Liverpool.

It isn’t impossible though. Leeds have beaten them there, Crystal Palace held them to a draw, as did Brighton Wolves Chelsea and Arsenal.

If, by some miracle, Villa do get ahead, Emiliano Martínez will be pulling all the stocks to hang onto the three points.

No one on his side has picked up more yellows this season (6), the man has no shame.

  • Selection: Aston Villa Win, Damian Martinez Card (TRACKED)
  • Best Odds: 37.50 (Sky Bet)
  • Stakes: 5/10

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal Preview

Saturday, May 20th, 17:30 (UK)

Arsenal’s title charge is over.

Everyone knows it. It is not mathematically impossible, yet, but it is just a matter of time.

Everyone’s been very sensitive about the phrase ‘bottlejobs’ recently and we could argue about if they have or not until they end their wait for domestic glory. But the facts are simple. The Gunners have only won two of their last seven.

Brighton and City both battered Mikel Arteta’s side, the Gunners lost by an aggregate score of 7-1 across those two games.

Liverpool, West Ham and Southampton all came to hold them to draws, the former two fighting back from two goals down.

How’s this young squad going to finish the campaign?

A trip to the City Ground is no mean feat either.

Despite Nottingham Forest’s lowly position, only 27% of top flight sides have left Nottinghamshire with three points this campaign.

Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal Best Bet

Three points for Steve Cooper would be invaluable, but exactly how much they would be worth is difficult to say at this moment in time.

If Everton lose at Wolves in the 3 pm kick off, it would move them five clear of the Toffees. Leeds play on Sunday, Leicester play on Sunday and there are a lot of stipulations.

The bottom line is, Forest would do anything for a win, not limited to Keylor Navas taking his sweet time if they go ahead.

It is not implausible, he was carded in Forest’s win over Brighton. Do it again please Keylor.

  • Selection: Nottingham Forest Win, Keylor Navas Card (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 63.00 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 5/10

Odds as at 15:45 on May 18th 202. Odds may now differ.

WHAT IS A FOOTBALL ACCA?

A football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create football accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
