Brazil vs Switzerland Bet Builder: Monday, November 28th

The World Cup is now in full swing and our Brazil vs Switzerland bet builder tips round off matchday 2. The focus is on whether the tournament favourites can build on their impressive win over Serbia against what may be a sterner test. Because Switzerland got the better of Cameroon on Thursday. Murat Yakin’s men will look to make back-to-back wins at this year’s tournament.

Brazil vs Switzerland Preview

World Cup Group G, Monday, November 28th, 16:00 (UK)

It may have taken longer than expected, but Brazil did eventually work their way through the gears on Thursday. In doing so, they brushed past Serbia and they may have found themselves a new hero in the process.

Richarlison grabbed two goals and seemed to settle a rivalry that is still bubbling away in North London. There has been a long-running debate over whether he or Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus should lead the line but the Tottenham forward has now seemingly pushed himself to the head of the queue.

The pressure is now on Brazil’s new R9 to impress. There is added impetus with the expected absence of Neymar. The 30-year-old talisman limped off against Serbia and is expected to miss the rest of the group stage matches.

Bad news for Brazil’s manager Tite, potentially good news for Swiss counterpart Murat Yakin. Especially after he saw his players earn a narrow 1-0 win over Cameroon on Thursday. That came courtesy of Breel Embolo’s second-half finish. Although it was a game that saw few chances, Switzerland were certainly the better team and a perfect start will certainly breed confidence before their meeting with Brazil.

Especially as the two nations played out a draw in Russia four years ago – one that helped the European outfit eventually finish 2nd in the group. Repeat this feat and the same Round of 16 path will appear much closer in the distance.

Brazil vs Switzerland Stats & Facts

  • Brazil and Switzerland have previously met twice at the World Cup finals. Each of the two encounters ended in a draw – 2-2 in 1950 and 1-1 in 2018.
  • Switzerland have only won one of their eight meetings with South American nations at the World Cup finals (D2 L5).
  • Breel Embolo has scored in three of Switzerland’s last four outings. Each time he has scored it has turned out to be the winning goal.
  • Brazil are unbeaten in their last 16 group stage matches. No nation has ever gone 17 group stages fixtures without defeat.

After getting the better of European opposition last week, I have a hunch that it will be more of the same for Brazil here. Although Switzerland did pick up maximum points against Cameroon, their upcoming fixture is a far greater test.

A test that Brazil and their ludicrously talented squad should be able to pass with flying colours. Even if Neymar has to miss out due to injury, manager Tite still has more than attacking weaponry in his arsenal. One of those weapons currently plays for Arsenal with Gabriel Jesus an option to start. While there may be an element of doubt regarding the fitness of Brazil’s prodigal son, in my opinion there is no doubt about the match outcome.

With that said, I am not sure that Brazil will have it all their own way. Switzerland were a match for them four years ago and although Murat Yakin’s men will eventually miss out, I do have them down to score at least once. Both teams have scored in two of Switzerland’s last three competitive matches and I expect the same to happen here.

  • Brazil to Win
  • Both Teams to Score: Yes
