Brighton vs Everton Tip 1: Brighton to win

England, Premier League, Saturday, February 22nd, 15:00(UK)

In the 2023/24 season, Roberto De Zerbi’s side have managed to turn the Amex into somewhat of a fortress, losing just one game at home in the Premier League all season. In all competitions, Brighton are unbeaten in their last 11 games at the Amex and have not tasted defeat at home since the end of September, some five months ago.

While the Seagulls endured a slight blip, winning just four in 17 Premier League games, they will head into this tie full of confidence after keeping just their third clean sheet of the season in the 0-5 battering of Sheffield United.

Roberto De Zerbi has also been boosted with the return of players such as Karou Mitoma, Simon Adingra, Perivs Estupinan and Tariq Lamptey, with these players allowing Albion a more fluid front-line, as opposed to make-shift wingers.

Saturday’s opponents, Everton, have struggled away from home in recent times and currently find themselves five games without a win on the road and seven Premier League games without tasting victory.

Travelling to a Brighton side that has tasted defeat at the Amex just twice presents a tough task for the Toffees.

Brighton vs Everton Tip 2: Welbeck ageing like fine wine

After scoring the second goal in the demolishing of Sheffield United, Danny Welbeck became just the fifth player to score over 20 goals for Brighton, joining Leandro Trossard, Glenn Murray, Neal Maupay and Pascal Groß for this feat.

He continued his fine run of form, making it two goals and two assists in five games for the Seagulls. His appearance also marked another feat for the 33-year-old – he has now made more appearances for Brighton than for any other team. Welbeck seems to have found a new home, and this is really showing in his performances.

His pace, power and football intelligence make him a defender’s nightmare. Welbeck also possesses tremendous ball control, allowing him to drop deep and link the play. Another underrated aspect of his game is his aerial ability, with his attacking prowess set to be strengthened thanks to the return to the team of creative maestros Kauro Mitoma and Simon Adingra.

Welbeck is a man in form, and I will back him to score again against a fragile Everton team.

Brighton vs Everton Tip 3: Goals Expected

Brighton vs Everton has been a historically high-scoring encounter. In each of the last four games played between these two teams, both teams have scored. At home this season, Brighton has netted 26 goals for a total season-wide average of 2.16 goals per game. Everton, meanwhile, has managed to score an average of just over a goal a game, further emphasising that goals are likely in this fixture.

While the reverse fixture ended 1-1, there were an abundance of chances for both sides. Last season’s fixtures ended in a 4-1 win for Brighton at Goodison Park, while Everton dismantled Brighton 5-1 at the Amex.

The Seagulls have seen BTTS in a league-high 20/25 games (80%). They have also seen BTTS and over 2.5 goals in 8/12 (67%) of their home games. While Brighton should expect to win and score a couple of goals, they do have the tendency to switch off and concede late goals in games they are dominating – conceding late after scoring four against Tottenham and Crystal Palace.

Albion has also shown some weakness to set-pieces, and an Everton backline containing James Tarkowski and Jarred Branthwaite will look to exploit this.

  • Brighton vs Everton Tip 3: Both Teams to Score and Over 2.5 Goals
  • Best Odds: 2.00
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

Brighton vs Everton Team News and Possible Lineups: Brighton AFCON winning hero back

Brighton’s injury problems have been well documented this season, with injuries a common theme on the south coast. Their squad was also weakened by Simon Adingra and Karou Mitoma heading off to represent their national teams.

However, the dynamic duo is back – as are Joel Veltman, Ansu Fati, Tariq Lamptey, Pervis Estupinan and Igor- further bolstering the squad.

Joao Pedro, Jack Hinshelwood, Julio Enciso and Solly March are still injured, so Albion are not yet full strength, but they are as close to full strength as they have been all season.

Everton, on the other hand, should have a relatively strong squad to choose from. As of now, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Arnaut Danjuma are the only absentees.

Brighton possible starting lineup:
Verbruggen; Lamptey, Dunk, Van Hecke, Estupinan ; Groß, Gilmour; Adingra, Buonanotte, Mitoma; Welbeck

Everton possible starting lineup:
Pickford; Coleman, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Harrison, Gueye, Onana, McNeil, Garner; Calver-Lewin,
