Union Berlin vs Wolfsburg: Home Advantage is a Factor

Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 10th February, 14:30 (UK)

Union Berlin was in action midweek, but they shared the spoils with Mainz. Union have struggled this season and sit just three points above the relegation playoff.
It’s a far cry from the success of the last campaign, which saw them qualify for the Champions League. There are some positive signs. Union have won all three of their home matches in the league since Nenad Bjalica was appointed.

Wolfsburg are 11th in the Bundesliga coming into this one. They have not won in their last five league matches but have picked up four points during that run. Both of their away wins in this campaign have come against sides in the bottom three.

Union are averaging 16 shots per home game under the new manager. They had 16 in their Wednesday night match against Mainz so I’m happy to back them to reach the 13 mark here.

Niko Kovac’s side are conceding an average of 13.4 shots per away game this season. This is slightly above the required mark for this bet, but the home side is in desperate need of the points, so expect them to go all out. Union managed 19 shots as they lost 2-1 away to Wolfsburg in the reverse fixture.

  • Prediction: Over 12.5 Shots For Union Berlin (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.80

  • Stake: 8/10

Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich: Heavyweight Clash Under the Lights

Germany, Bundesliga, Saturday, 10th February, 17:30 (UK)

The highly-anticipated clash between the Bundesliga’s top two sides takes place on Saturday night. Bayer Leverkusen are unbeaten in 29 matches across all competitions since the start of the season but they only have a slender two-point lead over Bayern coming into this one. Xabi Alonso’s side is aiming to end the Bavarians’ dominance.

Thomas Tuchel has had to deal with a host of injuries in this campaign. The former Chelsea boss has come under fire at times, but there is still a chance for Bayern to have a hugely successful season with the Bundesliga and Champions League still up for grabs.

Alonso’s side is hugely entertaining and shows plenty of attacking intent, particularly when playing at the BayArena. They are averaging 19.6 shots in their home league matches and are conceding just six. They should create plenty of chances once again as they hunt for a massive three points. However, the visitors should have some success of their own.

Bayern Munich had to settle for a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture as Leverkusen equalised deep into stoppage time. Tuchel’s side had 16 of the 29 shots in that match. They will create plenty of chances here. They are averaging 18.11 attempts in their away games, and this promises to be an end-to-end thriller.

  • Prediction: Over 27.5 Shots In The Match (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.90
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich: Heavyweight Clash Under the Lights

Germany, Bundesliga, Sunday, 11th February, 14:30 (UK)

Stuttgart are back to their best after wins against RB Leipzig and Freiburg. They’ve taken the Bundesliga by storm this season and are on course to finish in the top four. Stuttgart’s home form has been an integral part of their success. They’ve recorded eight wins in their ten league matches at the MHPArena.

Time is running out for Mainz. They are six points from safety, having won just one of their Bundesliga matches this season. Jan Siewert is still awaiting their first win on the road, but they have managed to draw six of those ten games.

Sebastian Hoeneß’s side is averaging 3.1 goals per home game in the Bundesliga, racking up the shot numbers in the process. They are averaging 16.2 shots per Bundesliga game, and this increases to 18.7 in matches in front of their own fans.

Mainz aren’t conceding a huge amount of shots for a side that have a woeful away record. Their opponents are averaging 12.4 attempts across their ten away league matches. However, the only side they have faced on the road in the current top four is Borussia Dortmund. They conceded 22 shots in that one.

  • Prediction: Over 15.5 Shots For Stuttgart (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.00
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 10/10
