The Premier League relegation battle is all but confirmed, but Nathan Joyes is back once more to provide his Burnley vs Nottingham Forest prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview.
Having landed nine winning selections from his last 12 Nottingham Forest tips, our man is back with three more as the Reds travel to Turf Moor as the season comes to a close.
England, Premier League, Sunday, April 19th, 16:00 (UK)
Although not mathematically safe, it will take a huge goal swing for Nottingham Forest to be relegated to the Championship.
Despite throwing yet another game against Chelsea last weekend, the Reds have managed to stay up by the skin of their teeth after their four point deduction.
However, the same can’t be said for their final opponents of the season as Vincent Kompany’s side will return to the Championship.
Collecting just 24 points from their 37 matches, conceding 76 in the process, Burnley simply haven’t been good enough to survive.
While plenty may feel as though both teams will be on the beach for this fixture, Nuno Santo will prepare his side as best as he can as he looks to stake his claim to continue as manager next season.
The hosts have kept just two clean sheets all season, while Nottingham Forest have only kept one clean sheet away from home in the Premier League. With one game to go, it doesn’t look as though that tradition will break at the very end of the season.
Nottingham Forest Premier League survival is largely down to the success of midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White. Eyebrows were raised when Nottingham Forest initially paid £25 million for the former Wolves midfielder, but the 24-year-old has been superb for the East Midlands club.
With five goals to his name, more impressively, Gibbs-White has achieved 10 assists to date. Only Cole Palmer, Mo Salah, Ollie Watkins, Anthony Gordon and Kevin De Bruyne have achieved 10 or more in the Premier League this campaign.
Looking at the clubs those players listed play for compared to Nottingham Forest, who have been in a relegation scrap throughout the season, those numbers produced from Gibbs-White are highly impressive.
Plenty of clubs are looking at the midfielder and this may be his final game for the club, so he will want to sign off in style if that is the case.
Nottingham Forest Haven’t done many things right this season, but signing Chelsea’s Callum Hudson Odoi for just £3m is arguably one of the best things they have done.
The former Chelsea winger has contributed 8 Premier League goals this campaign, including a stunner on his debut versus Burnley in the previous head-to-head match.
A brace versus Sheffield United pretty much saved their season and kept their heads above water. The winger backed that performance up with a goal against Chelsea in Forest’s last home match.
His trademark finish is simply cutting inside from the left channel onto his favoured right foot before curling home. However, stopping him is another issue.
Against a defence which has conceded 76 goals in the Premier League this season.Callum Hudson-Odoi will want to finish the season on a high and add to his impressive tally already.
Forest will no doubt get opportunities against Burnley and if the former Chelsea winger finds space on the left hand side, expect him to cut in on his favoured right and make them pay.
Burnley vs Nottingham Forest Prediction odds via bet365 as at 09:30, April 15th, 2024. Odds may now differ.
Neco Williams remains sidelined for Forest’s final game of the season which will likely see Gonzalo Montiel play his final game for the club after his loan spell from Sevilla.
Chris Wood hasn’t been his usual self in recent weeks, but although Taiwo Awoniyi returned from injury against Chelsea, it’s too early to rush him back into the starting line up.
Burnley will be preparing for life back in the Championship after this fixture, and it could be the last time Claret fans see certain individuals take to the pitch at Turf Moor.
Jacob Bruun Larsen’s loan spell will come to an end and the Danish midfielder will return to his parent club (Hoffenheim) in the coming weeks.
Burnley possible starting lineup:
Muric; Assignon, O’Shea, Esteve, Vitinho; Gudmundsson, Cullen, Berge, Brownhill, Odobert; Amdouni
Nottingham Forest possible starting lineup:
Sels; Aina, Murillo, Omabamidele, Montiel, Danilo, Yates, Hudson-Odoi, Gibbs-White, Elanga, Wood
