Celta Vigo v Real Madrid Bet Builder: Saturday, August, 21st

Spain’s late clash on Saturday night is between Eduardo Coudet’s Celta Vigo and Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid at the Estadio de Balaidos in Vigo. We have some Bet Builder tips for this matchup here at bettingexpert News.

In this article:

Celta Vigo v Real Madrid Preview

Saturday, August 20th, 21:00 (UK)

It is often tricky predicting matches early on in the league season with plenty of players coming and going, new managers and changes of tactics could be often altered but Ancelotti has kept the core of his squad since their impressive campaign last season as they won the title and the Champions League.

Real were behind for the best part of an hour against newcomers, Almeria, but second-half strikes from Lucas Vazquez and a freekick from David Alaba with his first touch turned the game around as the visitors racked up 29 shots and 15 corners.

Federico Valverde has been a standout player in the side. He’s transitioning into a central midfielder when his side is defending but occupies the right wing in attack. He’s so energetic and never stops running. With Kroos, Casemiro and Modric not being the most manoeuvrable midfield trio in the world, Valverde covers the field so well helping out his side.

Celta Vigo finished the season in 11th place last campaign, scoring and conceding 43 times and they did come up short both times against the league champions last year losing 7-3 on aggregate.

The opening game of the season saw four goals scored against Espanyol, Celta led the game 2-0 however a 98th-minute penalty meant the points were shared in a dramatic finish. Both of the men leading the line scored for the hosts with Iago Aspas bagging the opener and summer signing Goncalo Paciencia from Frankfurt doubling the lead on his debut.

Celta Vigo v Real Madrid Stats & Facts

  • The last 36 times David Alaba scored a club goal, his side went on to win the match.
  • There has not been a 0-0 draw in this H2H for 50 straight matches in all competitions.
  • The last time Celta beat Real Madrid in the league only two players in the matchday squad still play for the Madrid side.
  • Karim Benzema has opened the scoring in all of the last four league meetings in this exact fixture.

Celta Vigo v Real Madrid Bet Builder

Real Madrid have had plenty of success against Celta Vigo in recent meetings winning eight of the last nine time, scoring twice or more in all nine matches. Karim Benzema scored five goals against Celta in two league games last campaign and also missed a penalty. The Frenchman had seven shots against Almeria on the opening day. Despite scoring, he’ll be wanting to kickstart his season with a goal on Saturday night.

Given the recent H2H record between the clubs and the difference in quality I feel Real Madrid will earn all three points, they have improved their squad since last season and should have too much strength against Celta who let a lead slip against an Espanyol side who scored two goals for the first time in 12 consecutive league games.

Cards are another angle I want to include. Celta picked up four cautions on the opening day whilst Almeria saw three against Real. In each of the last three seasons, Celta have received two or more cards in all 6 matches against Real Madrid and given that stat, it’ll be the fourth selection to be added into my bet builder.

With Karim Benzema and Vini JR consistently threatening defences and creating plenty of chances the Celta back four and goalkeeper should be busy for large parts of the 90 minutes. With the addition of Antonio Rudiger, defensively they’ll be a lot stronger. Even though they conceded the opener against Almeria, Madrid will be switched on here to avoid a repeat.

This builder has banked in the last three matches between the sides. Karim scored a tremendous 27 goals last season in La Liga which is his best-ever tally. The 34-year-old seems to be getting better with age and has bettered or equalled his tally for a fourth consecutive season.

The referee for this match is Jesus Gil Manzano. He has taken charge of 195 games in La Liga across his carrer brandishing 1048 yellow cards averaging a hefty 5.37 per game. The Spaniard has appeared in 19 matches involving Celta Vigo, booking them 54 times at an average of 2.84 yellows per game which gives a good reading.

  • Real Madrid Win
  • 2+ Match Goals
  • Karim Benzema To Score
  • Celta Vigo 2+ Cards

Bet Builder odds: 3.40
