Less than a fortnight away from the Champions League final, we continue to anticipate an exciting match between two of Europe’s best sides.

Ahead of the finals, we’ll take a look at the top stories surrounding both sides and the Champions League as a whole, ahead of an interesting affair at the Stade de France.

Liverpool and Real Madrid stars handed Champions League final ticket allocation

Liverpool and Real Madrid players have been handed a generous allocation of tickets for the Champions League final.

Supporters in search of tickets for the final will be left fighting for fewer tickets after UEFA revealed the latest allocation to players from each club.

Players from Real Madrid and Liverpool will reportedly have 25 tickets each to give to their family and friends.

In total, that will amount to about 625 tickets per club, or 1,250 combined. This figure does not account for tickets allocated to coaching and backroom members. Interestingly, this allocation shows a significant reduction when compared to previous finals.

This time around, both clubs received fewer tickets from UEFA, who plan to satisfy fan demand to the maximum. The iconic Stade de France holds a capacity of 75,000 people in total and 40,000 has gone to both clubs (20,000 each) while the remaining 35,000 will be distributed by UEFA themselves.

Klopp issues Salah and Van Dijk injury update

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is expecting two of his key players to be fit in time for the Champions League final against Real Madrid on the 28th of May.

Despite picking up their second domestic triumph at the weekend in the form of the FA Cup, Liverpool fans had something to worry about. Salah picked up a groin problem and Van Dijk a knee issue during the final, with neither man making it to the end of the contest at Wembley.

Coincidentally, Salah had to come off with an arm injury when Real Madrid and Liverpool met in the Champions League final back in 2018. Seeing him on the ground with visible pain in his hamstring, there were fears he could once again be absent from another Champions League final.

Thankfully for Klopp and Liverpool fans, their star players should be fit in time to make the final showpiece in France.  The Reds’ boss confirmed this in a presser before his side’s penultimate Premier League game of the campaign against Southampton on Tuesday.

Asked if they would feature against the Saints, the German responded: “They are both okay, so the target for both would be they could be involved again at the weekend.

“It’s very positive. No doubt about the final and we’re realistic about the Wolves game (on Sunday), but for tomorrow, rather not.”

Real Madrid reportedly agree personal terms with Kylian Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe caused a frenzy last week after he was spotted in Madrid amid strong rumours he’ll be signing for the La Liga champions in the summer. There is growing confidence within the Real Madrid camp that the Mbappe deal could be completed before the Champions League final. Surely, that will lift the spirit and atmosphere within the dressing room should that happen.

Mbappe did recently confirm he will announce the next decision on his future when the campaign is over. PSG will play their last home game and match of the Ligue 1 campaign against Metz on Saturday. It could also be the last time the Frenchman wears a PSG jersey. An announcement on the player’s future could be made next week.

A report from The Athletic has claimed that Real Madrid have already agreed personal terms with Mbappe ahead of a likely move. It is only a matter of time before it is made official. Even the bookmakers agree, with Betfair offering odds of 1.10 for Mbappe to join Madrid as at the time of writing.

Winning the La Liga, Champions League and signing the hottest property thing in football on a free transfer will be the best possible way for Real Madrid to end their campaign. Only time will tell if it plays out that way.

Liverpool take Premier League title race to final day of the season

Liverpool made sure the Premier League title race will go down to the final day after a comeback 2-1 win against Southampton on Tuesday night. The Reds must now win against Wolves in their final day of the fixture and hope for some good fortune as Manchester City take on Aston Villa, managed by Liverpool legend Aston Villa.

It is a sorry case that could see Liverpool finish the Premier League campaign with 90+ points but still miss out on the title and a potential quadruple bid. Whatever happens on the final day, we are set for a tense and exciting finish to the campaign.
