Union Berlin vs Napoli: Napoli Can Make a Statement

Europe, Champions League, Tuesday, 24th October, 20:00 (UK)

Union Berlin were excellent on their way to earning a place in this season’s Champions League but this season hasn’t started quite as well. They were unlikely league leaders at one stage last season but are slugging it out in the bottom half of the Bundesliga at the moment. They are on a run of eight defeats, which includes both of their matches in this competition.

Like Union Berlin, Napoli haven’t hit the heights of last season. They were the runaway champions of Italy and made it to the latter stages of this competition, but Rudi Garcia has been a polarising figure since taking the reins in Naples. However, they have plenty of quality on the pitch and have shown promise in this competition.

Union Berlin are low on confidence and they’ve conceded the second most shots in the competition. Braga managed 12 shots here in the previous group match, and Napoli poses a much more significant threat.

Napoli have had 18 shots in both of their Champions League matches so far. They are also averaging exactly 18 shots per game across all of their matches this season. Despite Osimhen’s injury, the performance against Real Madrid showed they have the quality to take it to the very best sides and they should have too much firepower for a struggling Union Berlin side.

  • Selection: Over 15.5 Shots For Napoli
  • Best Odds: 1.72
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10

Sevilla vs Arsenal: The Gunners Can Shoot on Sight

Europe, Champions League, Tuesday, 24th October, 20:00 (UK)

Much like last season, Sevilla have started this campaign in disastrous fashion. They’ve picked up just two wins in their 12 competitive matches. It’s a start that cost Jose Luis Mendilibar, the coach who lifted the Europa League last season, his job. Diego Alonso has since been handed the role, and this game could be crucial for the landscape of the group, with Sevilla sitting on two points.

Arsenal fought back from two goals down to secure a point at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but now they face a trip to Spain to take on Sevilla. The Gunners suffered a shock defeat away to Lens in their last group game and need to return to winning ways here. Arteta will be hoping to ensure his side’s return to the Champions League is a triumphant one.

Orjan Nyland made six saves in Sevilla’s last Champions League match, and he may need to come to the rescue once again here. Across the previous ten matches Sevilla have played in European competitions, their keeper has averaged 3.4 saves per game. Arsenal represents one of their toughest tests over this period, so that number should increase here.

This bet has landed in both of Arsenal’s Champions League matches so far. The Lens keeper was forced into making six saves. Walter Benitez made four saves for PSV at the Emirates despite his side losing 4-0.

  • Selection: Over 3.5 Saves For Orjan Nyland
  • Best Odds: 2.00
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 7/10

RB Leipzig vs Red Star Belgrade: Leipzig to Charge Down Belgrade

Europe, Champions League, Wednesday, 25th October, 20:00 (UK)

Both of these sides were beaten 3-1 by Manchester City earlier in the group, and this match could have a huge bearing on who finished 2nd. RB Leipzig currently occupy that spot and are two points ahead of their opponents. Marco Rose’s side ended a run of three matches without a win at the weekend and are strong favourites for this one.

Red Star Belgrade lifted this trophy back in 1991, but the status quo of European football is maintained by the embarrassment riches that those at the top have at their disposal nowadays. The Serbian side drew 2-2 with Young Boys in their last game in what was a fiercely entertaining match, but a win in Leipzig would require them to be at their very best.

RB Leipzig had just three shots in their last home game in this competition, but that was against the reigning champions of Europe. They will be on the front foot for large swathes of this match, and three points are paramount.

Belgrade’s matches have seen the most shots in the competition, with an average of 39 per game. They conceded 18 shots at home to Young Boys and 37 when they lost at the Etihad in their opening group game. In their last five matches, where they have been similarly priced to win (6.50 or greater), they have conceded an average of 21.2 shots per game.

  • Selection: Over 16.5 RB Leipzig Shots
  • Best Odds: 1.80
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 8/10
