It was another frantic midweek schedule in the Championship, one that sets up the weekend’s offering with intrigue and anticipation in equal measure. Here at bettingexpert, we’re heading to Hull, Huddersfield, and the South West for Watford’s visit.

Reading have hit a slump. After a whirlwind start to the season that saw them notch up six wins in eight from mid-August to October, things have started to decline for Paul Ince’s Royals.
Now, it’s six losses in eight, with a 2-0 home win to Bristol City as the only bright spot in a gloomy period. It’s the type of Jekyll and Hyde showings Reading fans would’ve been concerned about whilst rubbing shoulders with those in the playoff spots.
Liam Rosenior’s Hull City are next on the agenda, following a fightback from 2-1 down in Cardiff on Tuesday. The new head coach will hope that fight and determination is a hallmark of his managerial reign in Hull.
Despite the much-needed win following the 0-0 away draw in Millwall, making it four points from his opening two games for Rosenior, Hull still looks susceptible at the back. And that’s no surprise; a new set of eyes in the dugout won’t sure up things defensively in a fortnight.
The Tigers have conceded at least one goal in 20/22 matches played this term. The 0-0 draws to Millwall and a sturdy Preston at the time came as the only shutouts. With that in mind, and Reading desperate to breathe new life into a wounding losing stretch, both teams to score could be the way to approach proceedings.
It hasn’t been all doom and gloom in the previous eight matches for Reading. The Royals have been creating opportunities, just not enough to win games.
Reading produced over 1.0xG in 6/8 of those matches, totalling 8.69xG in said eight fixtures.

The Terriers’ win in the capital during the week sums the Championship up in a nutshell. QPR, admittedly facing a tricky period, hit 36 shots at home to Huddersfield but still can’t quite grapple the three points away from the visitors.
It’s a massive three points for the club and Mark Fotheringham, a result that may kickstart a run of results in Yorkshire. However, Swansea poses the subsequent task, a side that will fancy their chances of out-scoring Huddersfield.
The two 2-2 draws Swansea have navigated coming into Saturday show precisely what they’re about at present. The Swans can find the net but are not too adept at keeping teams out at the wrong end. Swansea outperformed their xG massively last time out, recording 0.43xG but scoring two goals. That’s not the most inviting of signs in terms of the selection, though their previous five Championship matches have yielded 6.45xG.
It’s enough to be reasonably comfortable that the visitors will find the net against a Huddersfield team that ranks the fifth-worst for expected goals against in the Championship with 28.6xGA from 19 games. If the goals do come, getting over 1.5 goals on side accompanied by Swansea to win or Draw ends up at a backable 1.83 jaunt to Yorkshire.

The 31.4xGA for Bristol City this season (20 Championship outings) suggests that the visitors will have their chances on Saturday. Equipped with a bout of impressive recent form, conceding only twice in five games, Watford at odds-against could be a steal if things go their way.
The Hornets have won five of their last seven matches, whilst The Robins’ only win in their previous five games came at the Hawthorns nearly one month ago. João Pedro’s brace versus Reading took the Watford frontman to six goals for the season, a total equalled by Ismaïla Sarr, with Keinan Davis not far behind with four.
As much as Bristol City concede chances, they often find the net. The Bristolians’ 24.4xG this term showcases their want to get forward and put their stamp on games. That could be where the hosts fall short on the weekend, as Watford seeks to exploit spaces on the counter and in transition with their wealth of attacking talent.
With the Asian handicap at odds-against for a Watford win, plus returning half of your stake in the result of a draw, it seems like a good offering.
