Peterborough vs Nottingham Forest Best Bet
Sat, 23rd April, 15:00 (UK time)
I fear this could be it for Peterborough. The final nail in the League One coffin, hammered home by a Nottingham Forest outfit who continue to swat teams aside in their stride.
The Posh have looked somewhat rejuvenated following the change in the dugout. Thirteen points in Grant McCann’s first ten games prove that Peterborough’s fixtures have witnessed an upturn in performance and results.
Nevertheless, the hosts face the form team in the second tier in Forest. Twelve points from their last five nudges Forest above Swansea and Huddersfield as the side in the ascendancy. It’s the perfect time to snag a purple patch of form, explaining bet365’s 1.005 price to finish in the top six.
Forest have won seven of their last ten in the Championship, with only one 0-1 loss at the hands of Luton in that time. This calendar year, Steve Cooper’s men have been excellent (W11/D3/L2), establishing themselves as one of the best teams in the division throughout 2022.
After Chris Hughton’s departure, Forest languished in 24th in the Championship when Cooper took the job. There was talk that this would be a season of struggle for Forest, one to forget, perhaps.
After receiving just one point from the opening seven matches, the not so Tricky Trees were in desperate need. Yet, since Hughton’s dismissal, Steve Cooper has flipped the club’s fortunes on their head. The head coach has ensured that a fraction of fans in Nottingham have sights fixed on the Premier League, not over their shoulder.
The journey from 24th to 5th with two games in hand on those around them is remarkable. Not only do the playoffs look almost guaranteed given their form, but Bournemouth in the final automatic spot looks far from safe.
Nottingham Forest have overseen over 1.5 goals in 83% of their 41 fixtures this term, bettered by only Bristol City. The Posh rank third in the division for two or more goals conceded in a game, with 23 of 43 seeing them ship multiple strikes.
If the visitors can knick an early goal and deflate a likely nervous home crowd, this may prove routine in the end for Forest.
- Selection: Forest Win and Over 1.5 goals
- Best Odds: 2.05 (bet365)
- Stakes: 10/10

Luton vs Blackpool Best Bet
Sat, 23rd April, 12:30 (UK time)
Luton Town’s Kenilworth Road displays show no sign of fizzling out. A first-half Kal Naismith penalty was the difference when an in-form Nottingham Forest posed the most-recent task.
The Hatters have surprised onlookers with their lofty league standing this term. Their impressive home form underpins it all, and I’m a little surprised Luton can again be backed at near evens.
Table-topping Fulham’s 43 points collected at home this season stands just four more than Luton’s points haul. With 21 goals conceded from 21 games, Luton’s tally again falls two shy of what the Cottagers mustered.
This comparison is one with a Fulham team easing towards Premier League football. But, of course, Nathan Jones’ Luton shouldn’t be keeping pace with the playoff pack; that’s what the host of ante-post predictions told us, anyway.
Although Blackpool enters the weekend on the back of a 6-1 drubbing of Birmingham City, there’s not much left to play for this term. Currently in 16th and safe from the relegation places, but equally miles from the playoff conversation.
It seemed as if Blackpool’s season would coast towards the finish as they were without a win in five. Yet, the victory over a leaky Birmingham paints a different picture.
Luton will give it everything for their 21st win of the season. If Blackpool does let up ever so slightly, the hosts have every chance of putting up another three points on the board.
In the reverse fixture in Lancashire, the Hatters cruised to a 0-3 victory, one they’ll be hoping to repeat come Saturday afternoon.
- Selection: Luton to Win
- Best Odds: 1.90 (bet365)
- Stakes: 10/10
Hull vs Reading Best Bet
Sat, 23rd April, 15:00 (UK time)
If Reading’s 4-4 draw to Swansea is to account for anything, surely it’s not too much of an ask for a goal apiece in their visit to Hull. Reading aren’t yet safe from the drop but are positioned well enough to now have survival in their hands.
A win in Hull ensures Reading’s Championship status for another season. Said victory may be beyond their capabilities on Saturday, but registering a goal in the contest shouldn’t be. Reading have scored in seven consecutive fixtures in the division.
Nine of Paul Ince’s 11 games have seen his side notch. It’s an impressive statistic and one that has aided their voyage to safety.
In the previous four meetings between the two sides lining up at the MKM Stadium, each has supplied BTTS winners for punters. The away team will arrive with the second-highest BTTS figure in the division, overseeing 26 of 43 games where both recorded a strike. Contrastingly, Hull rank last for BTTS at home and overall in 2021/22.
Hull is another of the Championship’s clubs without too much to play for in terms of final league standings. Of course, no team will want to end the season with a run of losses. Nevertheless, the lack of drive to clinch safety or otherwise does have a bearing when facing a team equipped with that very hunger.
I expect Reading to score here, but I certainly wouldn’t back them to keep a clean sheet. At 1.85, it’s something I’ll be hanging my hat on.
- Selection: Yes on BTTS
- Best Odds: 1.80 (bet365)
- Stakes: 10/10
WHAT IS A CHAMPIONSHIP ACCA?
A Championship acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A Championship acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create Championship accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the Championship acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
