Spain’s oldest national football tournament reaches the final of another edition in a fixture that no one would have predicted. At the start of the tournament, Real Betis and Valencia were somewhere around sixth and 12th respectively in the 2021/22 outright winner markets by bookmakers.

Somehow, they have worked their way into just the second Copa del Rey final of the last decade that is without one of the two Spanish giants in Real Madrid and Barcelona. I’ve got a bet builder of odds as both sides bid to get their hand on silverware in Seville.

Two-time winners Real Betis will take on Valencia, who have triumphed in the competition on eight occasions.

Real Betis saw off Rayo Vallecano 3-2 on aggregate in the semi-finals on their road to the finals, while Valencia edged Athletic Bilbao 2-1 over two ties to advance.

In the absence of a ‘heavyweight side’ or even a clear favourite, both sides will no doubt fancy their chances at claiming silverware.

Regardless, Real Betis will somewhat come into the game as slight favourites, given their position in the La Liga (15 points ahead of Valencia) and their recent form to go with.

On Tuesday, Manuel Pellegrini’s side were narrowly beaten 1-0 by Elche. It was rather disappointing, given that the winner came eight minutes from time.

Prior to that defeat, Betis had amassed 11 points from their previous five games and sat just four points outside the Champions League places.

It must be said though that Manuel Pellegrini’s side have struggled in defence of late, recording just four clean sheets in 17 outings. They have also failed to score more than once in 11 of their last 12 games

For Betis, this is their first Copa del Rey final since they edged Osasuna to win it back in the 2004/05 season. With only two titles to their name, they will have a third in mind and they psychologically have some advantage as the game will once again take place at La Cartuja in their home city of Seville.

For Valencia, they come into this game off the back of successive La Liga defeats at the hands of Villarreal and Osasuna, seeing them drop to 10th in La Liga.

Los Che do have experience in this competition though, having won eight times and last lifting the trophy in 2019, with a famous 2-1 win over Barcelona 2-1. To go with, they have been runners-up on a further nine occasions, meaning finals are not exactly new to them.

Valencia are well-placed to do better than last term’s underwhelming 13th-place finish in Spain’s top flight. If they manage a top-half finish and a Copa del Rey triumph alongside, surely one can call it a successful season for Jose Bordalas’ men.

Valencia have won their last three Copa del Rey finals (1999, 2008, 2019) and the thought of making that four should fuel their desire in this one.

Thanks to their four-game winless La Liga run, winning this final could now represent Valencia’s only chance to play in Europe next season. There is a Europa League spot up for grabs for the winner of this final.

Real Betis might be slight favourites but you would be wrong to write off Valencia as they look to win their ninth Copa del Rey title. Only Barcelona, Real Madrid, Athletic Club and Atletico Madrid can boast of more to their names.

Copa Del Rey Final Stats and Facts

  • When excluding Barcelona, the last five Copa del Rey finals have been decided by a one-goal margin.
  • Real Betis have managed to score more than once in only one of their last 12 games
  • Four of Valencia’s last six Copa del Rey outings have seen both teams find the back of the net.
  • Real Betis have managed only four clean sheets from their last 17 outings. In the same time, Valencia have recorded seven.
  • Real Betis have failed to score in three of their last five matches.
  • Four of Valencia’s last five outings have witnessed under 2.5 goals while it has been the same for Real Betis in three out of their last five games.

Copa Del Rey Final Bet Builder Tips

  • Real Betis to Lift The Trophy
  • Both Teams to Score  in the Match -Yes
  • Over 10 Corners in the match for Both Teams Combined
  • Borja Iglesias to Score Anytime in the match

Bet Builder is available at 12.00 odds.

Borja Iglesias is the joint-top scorer in this season’s Copa with four goals, having scored in four Copa del Rey matches, including three team opening goals. In general, he is enjoying a fine season with 17 goals across all competitions and he could be among the goals again in Seville.

There is also a strong possibility that both teams will score in this game. This has happened in thirteen finals since the turn of the century. Valencia are clearly the more experienced side but I am backing Real Betis to lift the trophy either in regular time or even after extra time or penalties.

WHAT IS A BET BUILDER?

A bet builder is a kind of accumulator bet solely focussed on one match. A standard acca features multiple selections across different selections combined together into one bet. If one selection loses, the whole bet loses. A bet builder is similar but each selection is placed on the same match. Similar to the American prop bet, the bet builder goes into detail on a single match. Common selections include match outcome, total goals, cards, corners, and players to score.
