France’s oldest national football tournament concludes with a final that few people would have expected. Two sides will have the chance to end a wait of two decades without a trophy when Nice and Nantes battle it out in the Coupe de France final. I’ve got a bet builder of 11 odds as both sides eye their fourth Coupe de France trophy.
In this article:
It is a final without the likes of PSG, Marseille, Monaco, Lyon, Lille, Bordeaux or Saint-Etienne. In fact, it is the first Coupe de France final since 2015 that has not featured PSG, who have won six out of the last seven editions. Indeed, what an opportunity this is for Nice and Nantes.
Nice come into this final as favourites, with a burning itch to claim the winner’s medal. The last time they won silverware was when they won this competition 25 years ago.
On their road to the final, Christophe Galtier’s side have made memorable victories, none more significant than their penalty shootout triumph over PSG in the last 16.
If that wasn’t enough, Nice then humbled rivals Marseille 4-1 in the quarter-finals, before gunning down minnows Versailles 2-0 in the semis.
Having led Lille to a famous Ligue 1 title last season, head coach Galtier is on the verge of another brilliant achievement.

Three-time Coupe de France champions Nantes have won their last two finals (1999, 2000). Aside from the chance for silverware, Les Canaris have extra incentive to triumph in another here.
With only two wins across their last eight Ligue 1 outings (D3, L3), winning this final might represent their only path to qualifying for a first European competition since 2004/05. The winner gets an automatic spot in the Europa League.
In contrast, Nice remain in contention for Champions League qualification in Ligue 1 and their European status is all but secured regardless of the result here.
On their road to the final, Nantes beat AS Vitré, Brest and Bastia in earlier stages of the competition, before knocking out Monaco via penalties in the semi-final.
Finals are completely different but Nice have way better form and momentum ahead of this game. Christophe Galtier’s winning mentality should also help his side cap off a decent season by any standards.
Indeed, it is a game with almost equal opportunity for both sides but Nice will come into the game as slight favourites and I’m backing them to win as well.

I’m backing Cristopher Galtier’s men to come out on top in a game that should see both teams score. While Nice will be on the front foot, Nantes have enough quality to score as well and I believe that could happen in this final.
Nice forward Andy Delort has netted the match opener after half-time in his last four goalscoring appearances, scoring four times in his last six Ligue 1 outings. He has a thing for important goals and he won’t score at a better time than in this final.

A bet builder is a kind of accumulator bet solely focussed on one match. A standard acca features multiple selections across different selections combined together into one bet. If one selection loses, the whole bet loses. A bet builder is similar but each selection is placed on the same match. Similar to the American prop bet, the bet builder goes into detail on a single match. Common selections include match outcome, total goals, cards, corners, and players to score.
