Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United have mutually parted ways after the striker’s bombshell interview. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has struggled to make an impact this season. He’s spent more time on the bench for Erik Ten Hag’s side. He will be keen to secure a move to a side that is competing in the Champions League. His performances at the World Cup could play a part in enticing any potential suitors. Let’s take a look at where he could end up next.

Best odds available as at 10:00 on 23rd November 2022. Odds may now differ.

Cristiano Ronaldo Next Club Odds

Cristiano Ronaldo failed to have the same impact this season that he did in the previous campaign. Many anticipated that the all-time great would fit into Ten Hag’s system but that’s not been the case. Cristiano has just one league goal in what has been a difficult season for him at Old Trafford. There will likely be a few teams who are willing to take a chance on the 37-year old.

Along with the goals, the brand exposure Ronaldo’s signing must also be considered. Cristiano is the most-followed person on Instagram and he has a global reach like few others. Clubs could view this as an opportunity to cash in and reap the benefits of bringing Ronaldo to a club.

Ronaldo is likely to command a hefty wage package at his new club. United are reportedly saving £16 million by ending his contract early. This limits which clubs can afford him unless the Portuguese is willing to take a pay cut.

There is no strong favourite at the time of writing so it will be interesting to see how this story develops. It seems unlikely that Cristiano will sign for a club while he is on international duty in Qatar. Cristiano will be hoping for a triumphant return to form as he guides Portugal to the latter stages of the World Cup.

Cristiano Ronaldo To Chelsea Odds

Chelsea are the current favourites to secure Ronaldo’s signature. Todd Boehly was keen on bringing him to the club in the summer when Thomas Tuchel was still at the club. The German was less keen and this disagreement is rumoured to have played a part in his dismissal.

The American owner would no doubt view the capture of Ronaldo as a coup. Having Cristiano as the face of the new era at Chelsea (at least for a couple of seasons) would be the kind of statement that Boehly would like to make from a business perspective.

This move would perhaps be the most controversial because he would be moving to another English team. Chelsea aren’t direct rivals of Manchester United so it is doubtful that Ronaldo would have any qualms about joining the London side.

Chelsea were enduring a tough run of form before the World Cup break. Graham Potter demands a lot from his players off the ball and it seems likely that Ronaldo would encounter similar issues to the ones he did under Ten Hag. From a football point of view, this one doesn’t make much sense. Chelsea are going through a rebuild of their own but is the allure of Ronaldo too strong for the Boehly?

Cristiano Ronaldo To Sporting Odds

Ronaldo first learnt his trade at Sporting before signing for Manchester United in 2003. His talent was undeniable even then. He left for England as a teenager and a return to the side that gave him his start has rarely been mooted.

Sporting are not in the Champions League knockout stages and they have been struggling in the league this season. They are 12 points behind league leaders, Benfica. It makes little sense from a competitive standpoint for Ronaldo to return. However, his return to Man United made very little sense. Could Ronaldo return to where it all began at the end of his career?

Cristiano Ronaldo To Any MLS Side Odds

A move to the MLS could be an attractive option. Many top European players choose to spend their later years in the United States where the money flows and the brand potential is massive. The standard of football is also improving.

Former Real Madrid teammate Gareth Bale recently made the move across the pond to join LAFC. Realistically, only a couple of other MLS sides could house Ronaldo. LA Galaxy is an option – but their three designated player slots are filled until at least the summer. Inter Miami is another but they are reportedly in talks with old rival Lionel Messi. Still, a lot can change.

  • Cristiano Ronaldo to Any MLS Side Odds: 8.50

Cristiano Ronaldo To Newcastle Odds

If Cristiano Ronaldo wants to remain in England, a move to Newcastle could be an option. The Magpies certainly have the cash to keep Cristiano on the books and the possibility of Champions League football could prove an allure. So far, Newcastle have stayed clear of the superstars. A move for Ronaldo would make a major change in strategy but seems financially possible.
