There is a midweek offering in England’s top tier and this means we have Crystal Palace vs Manchester United bet builder tips to unveil. Can the Eagles find a much-needed win after two successive league defeats?
Can the Red Devils make it six league wins in a row and enhance their chances of being in this season’s title race? These two questions and more will be answered by the end of Wednesday evening.
In this article:
England, Premier League, Wednesday, January 18th, 20:00 (UK)
Although Crystal Palace are still considered a midtable club, the middle of the table is quickly evaporating around them. With the Eagles having lost four of their last five Premier League outings, supporters are starting to look nervously over their shoulders.
There is no sense of the South London outfit being in a relegation battle just yet. However, they cannot afford to simply bob along the surface of such choppy waters and if results do not soon go their way, they may end up swimming against the tide.
As in seasons past, there is a sense that the Selhurst Park side are not quite getting the rub of the green. Performances yes, points no. A conundrum that always holds Palace back and one that is doing the same right now.
Although it is not a conundrum that their upcoming opponents are suffering from. Even though Manchester United may have been fortunate with a certain offside decision, Saturday still saw them get the better of local rivals City.
A win that means United have won 15 of the last 15 points on offer and if you whisper it very quietly, the Red Devils may consider themselves as a part of this season’s title race. Should they make it a sixth successive win, the conversation may become slightly louder.
There is no doubt that United are in the groove right now and this groove has been further etched since the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Who would have thought an innocuous interview with Piers Morgan had the ability to change a club overnight?
When looking at the fortunes of these two clubs, it is incredibly hard to look past Manchester United in terms of an away win. Much is made of Crystal Palace’s home form and the fortress which is Selhurst Park but that fortress is looking more penetrable these days.
You only need to look at their second-half collapse against Tottenham for evidence of that. 0-0 at the break, 4-0 to their London rivals at the end. The things that made Palace nasty in the past are seemingly no longer on the show.
While when it comes to the show, Marcus Rashford has certainly been stealing it as of late. The England international has been given a new lease of life since the well-documented change in United’s attack.
His goal against Manchester City made it seven successive matches in which he has found the scoresheet. With such a run of form behind him, it would be remiss to ignore him before Wednesday.
If Rashford gets on the scoresheet and helps United to victory, we will need to hope his strike is one of no more than three goals in total. Routine success for Erik ten Hag’s men would be just fine.
While the other thing that would be fine is no more than nine total corners. If the corner count edges into double figures we are in big trouble. Should all these four choices get over the line, the bookmakers will be troubled at odds of 13.00.
