Our expert, Tom Winch, has a couple of solid-looking expert football betting tips ahead of this Friday night kick-off between Crystal Palace vs Tottenham. As always, there are plenty of key OPTA stats and facts to reinforce selections.
I’m not sure how many Spurs fans would’ve expected their side to be at the top of the table at this stage in the Premier League, but they are. Ange Postecoglu has broken the record for the most points earned (23) by a new manager across the opening nine matches.
Roy Hodgson’s men have been consistently inconsistent if that makes sense. Their opening nine games read as follows – WLDWLDWLD, if you like a trend, a home win is surely on the cards.

With the departure of Harry Kane just days before the start of the campaign, panic set in amongst the club. Who was going to score the goals? Did they need to splash the cash? The answer was no. They already had a sublime finisher within the squad, that being Heung-Min Son.
The South Korean has always been a fantastic striker of the ball; he can use both feet emphatically. He’s now the captain of the club, so that added impetus to perform at a greater level is clear.
Son began the season on the left. He performed well but didn’t score in any of the opening three matches. In Tottenham’s away trip to Burnley, Postecoglu altered the set-up and made the skipper lead the line. He bagged a hat trick that afternoon and hasn’t looked back since.
The 31-year-old has scored seven times across his previous six appearances in the top flight. Only Erling Haaland has scored more than the South Korean this campaign.
Visiting Selhurst Park is never easy. The crowd is usually lively, and Palace doesn’t tend to give too much away. Hodgson’s side sits mid-table when it comes to xG against (13.2). No side has kept more clean sheets than their four.
I’m willing to back Son here in the AGS markets. He’s the main goal threat for this Spurs side and will most likely be the penalty-taker. The league leaders are around 1.80 to win this match and an even shorter price to score multiple goals. Backing Son at 2.37 looks a strong way in. He’s the man in form and should get chances on Friday night.
Let’s have a punt. Cards are expected here, given all the circumstances, and that shows in the markets as the line is set at over 5.5. Andy Madley is in charge of this encounter. He’s been throwing out cards for fun this campaign. There have been 39 yellows and a red card across his six outings in the Premier League this season.
Destiny Udogie has recorded the most fouls per 90 than any other player within the Tottenham squad. His average of 2.3 has equated to him receiving three yellow cards. He’s young, energetic and always up for a battle. He’ll be in for a great duel with Jordan Ayew, a player who’s always in the wars.
The Palace man is a tough tackler, a crucial player for his side and is always putting in maximum effort. He’s been booked twice in nine appearances this season and has been fouled a massive 17 (4,5,4,4) times in just four home games this campaign. The Ghanaian has committed eight (3,3,2,0) fouls at Selhurst Park so far, which has seen him cautioned in half of those matches.
The double pays 12.0 with bet365. It should certainly have some legs. This clash should be lively, with plenty of tackles and fouls. The two players in question should be right among that, given their statistics so far this season. Spurs will do anything to continue their fantastic start, but of course, Palace would love to end that here under the lights in front of the home support.
There are no fresh injury concerns from the home side. Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise are likely absent, a continuous blow for Palace. Jeffrey Schlupp and Dean Henderson should return ‘within a few days’. The same lineup that was well beaten at Newcastle is expected; the quality within the current squad that is available looks relatively thin.
Ange’s side should be raring to go. There are no new injury doubts for them after their Monday night victory over Fulham. Yves Bissouma will be back after his suspension and should start. Minimal changes will be made here, let alone any in defence and attack. It’s a happy and healthy Spurs camp right now.
