It’s the first full day of action in Qatar so we have our first Daily World Cup acca. Well, it’s that time again as the World Cup is finally here after four long years. France were the champions back in Russia 2018 but we’re starting with Groups A and B today. There are three games on Monday which are nicely staggered in terms of kick-off times, we have provided our best from each game that may take your fancy.

You may be thinking “England, are you sure?”, but the Three Lions should really be taking all three points in the opener. Gareth Southgate has had plenty of critics regarding how he sets up his England team in recent times. Many wish he’d be a bit more courageous with an extra attacker rather than a fifth defender, but who knows what the 52-year-old has up his sleeve.
Iran won’t be a walkover. They qualified with absolute ease losing just once. That came against South Korea after they already confirmed a spot in the greatest footballing competition on the planet. Mehdi Taremi has been in terrific form this campaign for Porto, the forward has scored 13 times in 19 games across all competitions domestically. He will be the most dangerous attacking threat for Carlos Queiroz’s men.
England are heavy favourites to open up their account with a victory in Doha but combining the win with a lack of goals seems a solid angle which gives a much stronger selection price-wise.
Iran will set up to frustrate England for the entirety of the 90 and will be more than happy with a point. But the 2018 World Cup semi-finalists have huge amounts of quality in forward areas to break down the 10 outfield players.
This may not be the most entertaining watch in the opening round of the group stage. However, I’m happy to take that as a positive on Monday afternoon at the Khalifa International Stadium.

The competition hasn’t even begun but things couldn’t have gone much worse for the AFCON Champions, Sadio Mane’s injury will prevent him from playing any part for Senegal in Qatar. Things don’t get any easier either as they open their account against group favourites, the Netherlands.
This is the first World Cup appearance since 2014 for the Dutch. They made it to the semi-finals in Brazil eight years ago but ultimately came up short. Argentina beat them 4-2 on penalties on a night in Sao Paulo that seems like a lifetime ago.
Louis Van Gaal’s side have been in fine form since they were defeated in Euro 2020 by the Czech Republic. They’ve played 15 times since then and have yet to taste defeat. They’ll arrive here with plenty of confidence alongside a chunk of pressure given their absence last time out.
There’s quality in many areas of the Oranje squad, both young and on the older end of the spectrum which will be an exciting watch, they’ll certainly be expected to make the knockouts with little sweat.
The Netherlands are priced as strong favourites here which is more than understandable but are not quite juicy enough to back alone, the Asian handicap comes into play here which provides some extra variety as we look to get onside with the Europeans.
The -0.75 Asian handicap at 1.81 looks a reasonable play. I do expect the Dutch to come out on top at the Al Thumama Stadium, they can definitely win by multiple goals here if they’re on their A game.

Ahmad bin Ali Stadium in Al Rayyan is the destination for our third selection on Monday. It’s a huge clash between Greg Berhalter’s USA and Rob Page’s Wales. Both will fancy themselves to make it out of Group B containing England and Iran.
As we take a look at the markets for this game on Monday evening, USA are priced up as narrow favourites at the 2.62 best price. The Welsh are out at 3.10 so picking a winner here is just too difficult to call.
Instead, the goal line seems a nice way to tackle this match, it’s set at 2.0 and priced slightly under even money which looks the best bet for me.
Attacking-wise, Berhalter has a variety of options with many players who can cause a threat. Defensively is where their problems lie. Offence may be their first line of defence if they want to have any sort of success.
It’s hard to see Wales performing as well as they have done in previous tournaments compared to here in Qatar. They’ll give everything as individuals and as a team, that’s for certain. Gareth Bale’s performance levels will be hugely important for the nation but overall, they’ll be a tough nut to crack.
The 2.0 goal line is what I’m leaning towards here. An early goal could lead to a wide open affair. Neither side will want to lose this one but if there was a winner it could be absolutely vital in terms of a qualification spot.
At just under even money I’m more than happy to take this bet on. It’s a nice line given we’ll earn our stake back if exactly two goals are scored. That isn’t a huge ask in the opening encounter for these two nations.

A football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create football accas which is what we have created here. If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
