England vs Brazil Prediction: Team News and Lineups Preview

Scott Thornton brings you his England vs Brazil prediction, team news, lineups and fixtures preview ahead of this Saturday’s international friendly. This is a chance for Gareth Southgate to assess his squad with the European Championships just around the corner.
Prediction: England 3-1 Brazil
England have done well at recent tournaments but many feel anything other than a trophy with this group of players should be seen as a failure. Dorival takes charge of his first Brazil match. The team needs a lift after a poor run of results so it’ll be intriguing to see how they do.
- England vs Brazil Tip 1: England To Win
- England vs Brazil Tip 2: Both Teams To Score

England vs Brazil Prediction 1: England Deserve Favourites Tag
International Friendly, Saturday, March 23rd, 19:00 (UK)
England are the favourites when they take on Brazil at Wembley this Saturday. This is a huge indication of just how far they have come in recent. The Brazilians have lit up the international stage and are lauded throughout the world of football. The Three Lions don’t have the trophies to rival football’s most successful nation, but they have the players to do the damage this weekend. Therefore, I’m backing Gareth Southate’s side to come out on top with the European Championships fast approaching.
The Three Lions have won all five of their home matches since the World Cup. They have scored 15 and conceded just one over that period. Their most notable recent victory was over Italy. This is a chance to boost the team’s confidence ahead of the summer.
The Brazil squad is as talented as ever but they have suffered defeat in their last three matches. They find themselves eight points behind Argentina in World Cup qualifying after a poor start under interim boss, Fernando Diniz. Dorival Junior has now taken charge but assignment should prove to be too tough in the early stages of his tenure.

England vs Brazil Prediction 2: Wounded Brazil are a Threat
Dorival has a varied coaching career. He has been coached by several teams in the Brazilian top flight and has generally favoured direct attacking play. The coach is also keen for his full-backs to push high up the pitch and join the attack. Brazil’s stylish, attacking football has become the stuff of legend, and the new manager will want to ensure his team fit the mould in his first game. As a result, our second bet for this match is for both teams to score.
England have scored in all ten of their matches since they came home from Qatar. They are averaging 2.6 goals per game over that period. Several attackers are vying for a place in Southgate’s starting 11, so expect the home side to show real menace for the full 90 minutes.
Brazil also have competition for places in the forward areas. Neymar is a big miss, but they can still rely on the Real Madrid duo of Rodrygo and Vinicius to conjure up some magic. Richarlison is also enjoying his best season since joining Tottenham and can be an important source of goals for the five-time World Cup winners.
- England vs Brazil Prediction 2: Both Teams To Score
- Best Odds: 1.80
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 10/10
England vs Brazil Prediction 3: Kane Form Continues
Some of Gareth Southgate’s selections for his squad raised eyebrows. That is nothing new with England having one of the deepest talent pools in international football and the familiar faces will continue to have an impact. One player whose selection was never in doubt was Harry Kane. The Bayern Munich striker has been at his brilliant best this season but looks unlikely to be rewarded with silverware at club level. He will want to continue his momentum into the summer where he will get the chance to end his trophy drought with England.
Kane is averaging 0.92 non-penalty goals per 90 minutes played in this campaign, which puts him in the top 1% of forwards across Europe’s top five leagues. He is managing to outperform his extraordinarily high non-penalty xG of 0.72 per 90. He has scored 37 goals in 34 matches in the league and Champions League for Bayern. Harry has also found the net in his last three starts for England.
The former Tottenham striker is seldom available at odds greater than 2.00 to score anytime in the match so we’re making the most of the opportunity to back him at decent odds here. He will be up against a Brazilian defence plagued by injury.
- England vs Brazil Prediction 3: Harry Kane To Score
- Best Odds: 2.30
- Bookmaker: bet365
- Stake: 7/10

England vs Brazil Team News and Possible Lineups: Brazil Defence Down to Barebones
Southgate has opted to include Jordan Henderson in his squad for these matches. Many felt that Kobbie Mainoo would get the nod ahead of the Ajax midfielder, but the England manager has opted for those he trusts. There will always be controversy when an England squad is named, but the manager will be delighted with the players he has available for this match.
Neymar is absent from the Brazil squad due to injury. He also has a history with Dorival from his time at Santos. The attacker had an altercation with the now-Brazil manager shortly before the veteran coach was relieved of his duties in 2010. Gabriel has also pulled out of the squad citing injury. Ederson and Alisson are missing due to injury so they need one of their keepers that play domestically to step up.
England possible starting lineup: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire, Chilwell; Rice, Bellingham, Foden; Rashford, Kane, Saka
Brazil possible starting lineup: Bento; Danilo, Bruno, Beraldo Wendell; Luiz, Guimaraes, Paqueta; Rodrygo, Richarlison, Vinicius
Match Stats: Brazil Enduring a Rough Patch
