A win will be enough for Roberto Mancini’s men. Italy will secure their place in the next stage of the competition with a victory against Switzerland. They did the hard work with that 3-0 win against Turkey in the tournament opener.

It’s the first meeting between these two nations in the European Championships. Italy and Switzerland have met a few times before in major tournaments but not for a long time. The Swiss beat them twice on home soil at the 1954 World Cup.

Italy got their revenge at the 1962 World Cup and have dominated this fixture in recent years. The Azzurri haven’t lost any of their eight most recent matches against Switzerland.

They come into this one in good form. Italy impressed against Turkey. They had 24 shots on goal and saw 63% of the ball. Switzerland posted similar figures against Wales but they didn’t convert that into a win. The Swiss wasted chances and they can’t afford to do that against Italy.

The Stadio Olimpico in Rome hosts this match. Both sides have set up camp in Italy but the Swiss have had a busier week. They made a 16-hour round trip to Baku to take on Wales at the weekend. That works in Italy’s favour.

We should see another comfortable Italy win here. The Azzurri are the better side in almost every area and will be full of confidence.

Italy’s midfield will create plenty of chances and they have the players up front to finish them off. None more so than Ciro Immobile. The Lazio man knows this stadium and looks a good bet to find the net.

Switzerland should struggle in this match. Liverpool man Xherdan Shaqiri is their biggest threat but he’ll struggle against this Italian defence. They don’t concede many goals and eight consecutive clean sheets is a fine achievement.
