With another weekend of Premier League action on the horizon, it means our Everton vs Liverpool bet builder tips are not all that far away either. Tips that will focus on whether the Toffees can finally earn a first win of the season.
While they will also focus on their Merseyside rivals and with Jurgen Klopp’s men earning three points in the most dramatic of fashions on Wednesday, they will hope for a more routine win on Saturday.
In this article:
Saturday, September 3rd, 12:30 (UK)
For those Everton supporters who consider themselves optimistic, they can point to the Toffees’ earning three successive Premier League draws. For those Everton supporters who consider themselves pessimistic, they can point to no wins this season.
While regardless of the persuasion that those fans consider themselves a part of it, they can all agree that the visit of Liverpool on Saturday is going to be far from easy. Especially as the red half of Merseyside have won their last two league outings.
After the 9-0 demolition of Bournemouth last weekend, things were slightly more routine against Newcastle on Wednesday. Only slightly though, as it needed a 98th-minute winner to get the better of the Magpies.
Whether referee Andre Marriner should have played that much stoppage time or not, is still up for debate. However, the history books point to a Liverpool win and they also favour Jurgen Klopp’s men when it comes to recent dominance in this fixture.
This is why Everton having to square up to them in round six of the season, is something that could either make or break them. If they can avoid defeat, it will only build further confidence in the dressing room.
Although should they lose, it will only offer a backwards step as far as manager Frank Lampard is concerned and when you consider where Everton currently are in the league table, they cannot afford too many of those.
When you look at the weight of historic results, it certainly favours Liverpool before Saturday and when it comes to the bookmakers, they also have the Reds reigning supreme on Merseyside.
At 1.36 for an away win, it could be considered as either too short for a derby win or perfect accumulator fodder. However, I am leaning towards the latter option and therefore, this is the first selection on my bet builder.
This leads me next to goals and although Liverpool’s recent 9-0 win is a remarkable footnote within the history of the Premier League, it should also be considered as a rather huge outlier.
Therefore, I think goals could be at something of a premium on Saturday and this is why I have opted for no more than two when the blue and red half of Merseyside square off. While if you want to back this suggestion on its own, you can get odds of 2.50.
Because of a premium on the goals, it means I can go much higher on the corners and with just the start of double figures being permitted for this to come good, I have opted for no more than 10 total corners.
Not to forget that this fixture is always considered a rather feisty affair and with there never being a shortage when it comes to cards, I think each side will pick up at least one. This means when all four selections are combined, odds of 8.50 are on offer.
Bet Builder odds: 8.50
