Friday Night Football Acca: January 6th

The majority of Europe’s top leagues are back in action post-World Cup. So, what better way to start the weekend than to pick out my three best bets? Putting them together for a Friday night bettingexpert acca worth 7.90 odds. The spotlight falls on league action in Spain and Italy. Plus an all Premier League clash in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup.

Elche vs Celta Vigo Preview

Spain, La Liga, Friday, January 6th, 17:30 (UK)

Pablo Machín is unbelievably the fifth manager attempting to secure Elche’s first La Liga win of the season. Four draws and 11 defeats unsurprisingly leaves Los Franjiverdes rock bottom. Cut adrift by eight points and nine points behind their visitors here who occupy the first place above the relegation zone.

A 2-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid when returning to league action following the World Cup break drew praise from Machin. However a golden opportunity for a morale boosting victory was spurned in midweek. Suffering a humiliating round of 32 Copa del Rey defeat to third-tier Ceuta.

Vigo are fearing little better. Winning just three of their 15 league matches, suffering eight defeats in the process. A 1-1 draw with 18th placed Sevilla last time out keeps them just out of the drop zone. The Sky Blues also exited the Copa del Rey on Tuesday. Less embarrassingly suffering a 3-1 loss at the hands of Espanyol after extra time.

Elche vs Celta Vigo Best Bet

In a game with both sides hopelessly out of form, I am turning to a tried and trusted individual to form the foundations of this selection. New boss Carlos Carvalhal will be hoping veteran Iago Aspas can fire his side to their first La Liga win under his stewardship at the fourth attempt.

The 35-year-old provided the assist for Gabri Veiga’s strike against Sevilla. But also fired a shot on target from his two attempts in the match. A 16th effort on target in his 15 league outings this term, only failing to have at least one just twice. Aspas has had at least one shot on goal in each of his last eight appearances for Vigo. Adding under four goals in the match brings the selection to 1.80. Eight of the last nine meetings between the two clubs have seen under three goals.

With both clashes last season ending 1-0 to the host. Only one of Elche’s seven games at Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero this campaign has seen four or more goals.

  • Selection: Iago Aspas Over 0.5 Shots on Target and Under 4 Goals in the Match
  • Best Odds: 1.80 (bet365)
  • Stakes: 8/10

Man Utd vs Everton Preview

England, FA Cup, Friday, January 6th, 20:00 (UK)

Erik ten Hag is putting an impressive body of early work together at Manchester United. After a disastrous start to his tenure the Red Devils have won 13 of the last 16 competitive fixtures losing just once. They have made the perfect return from the mid-season pause winning all four games without conceding a goal. That’s now six consecutive victories either side of the World Cup. Tuesday’s 3-0 success against Bournemouth was a seventh in succession at Old Trafford. A run which has seen them keep six clean sheets.

It is a complete contrast for Frank Lampard who admitted he “can’t control the talk” regarding his future. That dejected admission coming hot on the heels of a 4-1 home humbling to Brighton. After losing eight of their last 11 games this weekend would normally be seen as a welcome break from league action. However, Rachel Brown-Finnis did the Toffees no favours pulling them from the hat directly after Mark Wright had drawn the 12 times competition winners.

Man Utd vs Everton Best Bet

On current form, Erik ten Hag has a fantastic opportunity to end the six-year wait in adding another piece of silverware to the swollen Old Trafford trophy cabinet. With the Premier League title likely to have to wait at least another season the FA Cup represents a very realistic opportunity. As a result, we can expect a close to full strength lineup for the home side.

Everton were dumped out of this tournament 4-0 at Crystal Palace last year. They were also hammered 4-1 by Bournemouth in the League Cup in November. Given their struggles in front of goal and that the hosts have only conceded in one of the last nine competitive home games, the Man Utd win-to-nil looks a fantastic selection.

  • Selection: Man Utd to Win to Nil (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.45 (Coral)
  • Stakes: 6/10

Benfica vs Portimonense Preview

Portugal, Primeira Liga, Friday, January 6th, 19:00 (UK)

Benfica will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat of the season. Roger Schmidt’s side remain at the top of the table despite the 3-0 loss at Braga, having won 12 of their opening 14 games. Preparations for this clash have been clouded by the imminent transfer of Enzo Fernandez to Chelsea. The winner of Best Young Player at the World Cup has angered his manager and may be left out for disciplinary reasons. The league leaders will definitely be without playmaker Rafa after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season against Braga.

Portimonense also ended 2022 with a defeat. Conceding an injury time goal in a 2-1 loss at home to Casa Pia. Paulo Sergio’s sitting in 8th an equal seven points separating them from both the European places and the relegation zone. A run of five defeats in their last six away games in all competitions will also be of concern to the Alvinegros.

Benfica vs Portimonense Best Bet

The Eagles will not only be looking to bounce back from that Braga defeat but also avenge a shock defeat in this fixture last season. That is something I expect them to do despite the outside distractions. The 1-0 win in October 2021 was the first time Portimonense had ever beaten the 37-time Portuguese champions.

This term Benfica have won 12 of their 13 home games in all competitions, plundering 42 goals in the process. The other result was a 1-1 draw with PSG in the Champions League. The Eagles have also won four of the last six meetings between these two sides. Five of those games have seen three or more goals with half having at least four strikes.

With the home win prohibitively priced the goal line is an excellent way in. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see either the home side secure a landslide victory. Or the visitors, who average exactly one goal per away league game, get on the scoresheet in a contest they may believe they can spring another upset with the hosts not at maximum strength.

WHAT IS A FOOTBALL ACCA?

A  football acca is an accumulator bet, a type of bet that consists of several selections across different matches that are combined together into one single bet. An acca usually. consists of at least four selections but many more can be included. There will be odds for the single bet as a whole which is calculated by multiplying the odds of all of the selections. A  football acca is one of the most popular ways to bet. This is the case because they can create potentially massive odds for a small stake. Many punters choose to create Premier League accas which is what we have created here.If one of these selections loses then the football acca will lose. This type of bet needs every selection to win in order to succeed.
