Georgia vs Luxembourg Prediction 1: Hosts To Have Enough

European Championship Qualifiers, Thursday, March 21st, 17:00 (UK)

The Georgian capital will be where these nations meet on Thursday evening. This encounter is massive and one where both teams give their all. Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena is the destination, a venue where I expect the hosts to come out victorious.

It’ll be the first-ever competitive meeting between these two. Willy Sangnol’s men are firm favourites in Tbilisi. Luxembourg are underdogs. That’s nothing unusual. Luc Holtz’s side will make this contest competitive. They finished 3rd in the qualification group stage. Iceland and Bosnia & Herzegovina both finished below the Georgians.

With this clash contested in Georgia, it’s tough not to get the hosts onside. Georgia found themselves in a tough group which featured Spain, Scotland and Norway. The latter two struggled when visiting Georgia as both encounters ended level.

It’s a price that appeals. The home side have plenty of talent within their squad: Mamardashvili – Valencia, Chakvetadze – Watford, Mikautadze – Metz, and, of course, Kvaratskhelia – Napoli

Offensively, Georgia is considerably better. It may not be a goal fest. Individual quality may be the difference in such an important fixture.

  • Georgia vs Luxembourg Prediction 1: Georgia -0.5 Asian Handicap (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 1.85

  • Stake: 4/10

Georgia vs Luxembourg Prediction 2: Kvaradona’s Class Will Shine

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is Georgia’s best player. He arrived in Naples less than two years ago but is already a fan favourite. The 23-year-old is known as Kvaradona to many. I could think of worse nicknames. Mr K bagged four of Georgia’s 12 goals in the group stage. His quality could be the difference maker in this one.

I think it’s fair that Kvara hasn’t quite reached the levels he showed in 22/23. Napoli themselves have struggled this term. The attacker is averaging 0.41 goals per 90 in Serie A this term. That’s nothing to be ashamed of.

KK is averaging a whopping 4.18 shots per 90 in Italy, 1.49 of those are hitting the target. I expect that he’ll hit similar numbers on Thursday.

There’s no surprise that Kvaratskhelia is the shortest-priced player in this market. He’s scored four times in Georgia’s three previous matches. Those came against Spain, Scotland and Cyprus.

It’s now four goals in his last five for Napoli. He’s performed considerably better in recent weeks. There’s no reason why he can’t find the back of the net against this Luxembourg side.

  • Georgia vs Luxembourg Prediction 2: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia AGS (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 2.30
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 3/10

Georgia vs Luxembourg Prediction 3: He Knows Where The Back Of The Net Is

Georges Mikautadze is likely to lead the line alongside Kvaradona. The Metz forward scored 23 goals in 37 appearances last year in Ligue 2 as he led his side to promotion. The 23-year-old scored more than any other player that season.

The Georgian striker is back with Metz on loan after his start to life in Ajax never really got going. GM has scored five times for the Ligue 1 club so far, which includes three strikes in his last four appearances.

Georges is a goal threat. He was on the scoresheet three times across eight group-stage matches. The home side should create plenty of chances. Our man isn’t afraid to shoot from a distance. Nine of his 32 shots for Metz this season have arrived outside the area.

Metz is one of the worst sides in France. The Georgian is their best player by some distance. I expect him to shine in the upcoming clash. Kvara and himself will play vital roles in the capital. They’re both capable of scoring.

Leandro Barreiro is the only Luxembourg player who plays in one of Europe’s top leagues. It’s a side that lacks quality in all areas.

  • Georgia vs Luxembourg Prediction 3: Georges Mikautadze AGS (TRACKED BET)
  • Best Odds: 3.25
  • Bookmaker: bet365
  • Stake: 2/10

Georgia vs Luxembourg Team News and Possible Lineups: Fresh And Ready For Action

The Georgian side appears to be fit and healthy. Giorgi Aburjania is the only possible injury doubt. The Hatayspor midfielder hasn’t played for his club since January. Giorgi featured twice in the group stages.

Luxembourg have minimal absentees ahead of this encounter. The majority of players who featured in their most recent win over Liechtenstein have played regular club football in recent weeks.

Leandro Barreiro is Luxembourg’s most important player. Anthony Moris is having another strong season with USG in Belgium.

Georgia possible starting lineup: Mamardashvili; Kakabadze, Kvirkvelia, Kashia, Lochoshvili, Azarovi, Chakvetadze, Kvekveskiri, Kochorashvili, Mikautadze; Kvartskhelia

Luxembourg possible starting lineup: Moris; Bohnert, Mahmutovic, Martins, Chanot, Carlson, Barreiro, Olesen, Martins, Sinani; Rodrigues

Match Stats: A First Timer

  • Gerson Rodrigues scored five goals in the group stage. More than any other player amongst these two nations.
