Jimmy’s Punt: January 21st - 40.50 Treble On Player Fouls

Premier League Best Bet: Saturday, January 21st
Time for the second edition of Jimmy’s Punt!
Don’t worry about how many I have backed, but I have landed a fair few big ol’ bets over the last couple of seasons.
Last week’s combination of an Evan Ferguson brace, card combination did not go close.
This weekend’s selection comes via the top flight once more, where I have combined three Premier League players to commit 2+ fouls each.
It pays out at a cool 43.88, not singles, a point on the treble.
I just hope we get a run for our money.

Liverpool vs Chelsea Preview
Saturday, January 21, 12:30 (UK)
This weekend’s Premier League action commences at Anfield where Liverpool host Chelsea in a marque clash.
Both bosses will have felt some sweet relief following 1-0 victories, as the pressure on them subsided a little bit, for a short period of time.
Graham Potter’s sides came last weekend, as they edged past Palace on Sunday. The Blues will come into this game better rested, having three days extra to recover compared to the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were in FA Cup action against Wolves on Wednesday. Liverpool did manage to rotate and it was Harvey Elliot’s first half strike that proved to be the difference.
10 points of the Champions League spots, defeat could sound the end of the UCL hopes of one of these sides, even at the halfway stage, so expect plenty of needle here.
Liverpool vs Chelsea Best Bet
Benoit Badiashile’s price of 3.75 to commit 2+ fouls looks intriguing.
I am not going to pretend to know much about him, but in Ligue 1 this season he racked up three cards in 11 appearances, committing 10 fouls in nine starts.
And you will be well aware of the clichés regarding the ‘step up’ in physicality in the Premier League that the defender will have to adapt to.
At Selhurst Park, he completed four tackles, without faltering. He will more than likely be opposing Darwin Nunez at Anfield, a swashbuckling, physical forward who will keep the Frenchman occupied.
- Selection: Benoit Badiashile 2+ fouls
- Best Odds: 3.75 (Paddy Power)

Southampton vs Aston Villa Preview
Saturday, January 21, 15:00 (UK)
Nathan Jones and James Ward-Prowse seem to be striking up a special bond on the south coast.
Following the latter’s aforementioned brace in Merseyside, Saints supremo dubbed JWP the best technician in the top flight.
The admiration does appear mutual as Southampton’s captain was seen pushing his manager toward the travelling fans to lap up the plaudits following a monumental 1-2 victory.
Next on the roster for the pair is the visit of Aston Villa as the Saints look to make it three wins in as many games as they secured a spot in the FA Cup 4th round and in the League Cup semi in the week prior.
Southampton vs Aston Villa Best Bet
Since Jones’ arrival, Ward-Prowse visibility has been tested but the pair seem to have settled on him playing CAM.
Here he can be seen leading, or triggering, the press by harrying the opposition’s deepest-lying midfielder.
JWP gave Kalvin Phillips a torrid time in the EFL Cup, with the England international hooked just past the hour mark.
Since Jones came in, there has been a spike in the number of fouls Ward-Prowse is committing.
He has racked up eight in his last four appearances, hitting this line of 2+ on three occasions.
- Selection: James Ward-Prowse 2+ fouls
- Best Odds: 2.40 (Paddy Power)

West Ham vs Everton Preview
Saturday, January 21, 15:00 (UK)
West Ham host Everton in a crucial clash at the foot of the table.
This pits two sides with loftier ambitions against one another, and even at the halfway stage, a defeat could prove fatal for their respective managers.
The hosts should feel slightly aggrieved to have only accumulated 15 points this campaign, the Infogol model has them in 9th, eight places higher than where they currently languish.
The Hammers’ lowly position has been a direct consequence of some woeful finishing, scoring 15 but generating an xG of 26.87.
The signing of Danny Ings goes a long way to addressing that issue, and I will be intrigued to see if David Moyes chucks him straight in at the London Stadium.
As for the Toffee’s, their spot in 19th is perfectly apt.
Despite taking the lead against Southampton in their last game, the only side below them in the table, Everton came away with nothing.
A second-half James Ward-Prowse brace resigned them to their seventh defeat over their last eight games.
Things have turned from bad to ugly behind the scenes.
The Toffee’s backroom staff advised to stay away from Goodison last weekend, and the players were harassed as they left the ground, the squad may be grateful for a bit of respite in the form of a trip to the capital.
West Ham vs Everton Best Bet
With Everton on the road this weekend, Frank Lampard could well stick to the more defensive 5-3-2 formation.
This will likely see Ben Godfrey remain at RCB which is why his price of 4.50 to commit 2+ fouls appeals.
Since moving to the Toffees three seasons ago, he has made 54 top flight appearances.
During which time the defender has accumulated 10 bookings and notched up 41 fouls with this bet clicking on eight occasions.
- Selection: Ben Godfrey 2+ fouls
- Best Odds: 4.50 (Paddy Power)
