Lens vs Rennes Bet Builder Tips

Lens vs Rennes is one of the standout games in Ligue 1 this weekend. Lens finished a point behind PSG last season but they succumbed to a defeat in the opening weekend of this season. They take on a Stade Rennais side that are full of confidence following their emphatic 5-1 win over Metz.

Our expert, Scott Thornton, has a bet builder for you ahead of Sunday night’s clash in France.

Lens vs Rennes Bet Builder Tips: Lens’ to Return to Winning Ways

Lens Win: Lens to Bounce Back from Opening Day Disappointment

PSG have been ripped apart this summer with several key players departing the club. There is also huge uncertainty surrounding Kylian Mbappe so Lens can be forgiven for having title ambitions this season. However, they suffered a setback in the opening week and need to bounce back here.

Lens’ home form in Ligue 1 last season was breathtaking. They won 17 of their 19 matches at the Estadio Bollaert-Delelis. Their only loss was a narrow 1-0 defeat against Nice. Lille were the other side who managed to travel to Lens and take points of Franck Haise’s side.

This should prove to be a tough fixture for the home side but the price on offer is very appealing. Lens have beaten Rennes in Rennes in their last three meetings and haven’t lost any of the last six.

Over 2.5 Goals: Goals are on the Agenda

Lens lost Lois Openda and Seko Fofana for hefty fees but they have reinvested some of that in the squad. They have brought in seven players to help them deal with the rigours of the Champions League alongside their domestic league.

Hase’s men remain a capable scoring outfit. They stormed to a two-goal lead last weekend before losing their lead. They also averaged 2.16 goals per home game last season. In fact, Lens scored two or more goals in seven of their last eight Ligue 1 matches on home turf. Obviously, these were all last season but it illustrates just how dangerous they can be.

Rennes are also deadly going forward. As previously mentioned, they found the net five times last weekend. They averaged 1.82 goals per game last season so expect them to chip in with a goal here. They lost 2-1 the last time they visited this ground.

Over 8.5 Corners: The Corner Count to Rise

Rennes enjoyed a successful campaign of their own last season. They finished 4th in the league but they ended up 16 points behind Sunday’s opponents. Bruno Genesio’s side are a threat in wide areas and are accomplished in possession so they can pose problems for Lens.

This leg of the bet builder has landed in the last five head-to-heads. Over that period, there has been an average of 10.8 corners per game. Lens’ match last weekend saw 0 corners. There were just six in Rennes’ but this should be a far more competitive fixture that sees both teams push.

Lens matches saw an average of 9.61 corners per game last season; the 5th most in Ligue 1. This rises slightly to 9.68 if we only consider their home matches. Rennes’ matches last season averaged 8.66 corners per game. This is below the league average but still above what we need for this leg of our bet builder to land
